I still don’t see how the Jets are a big upgrade for him if they are forced to hand all their draft capital to the Texans, which is pretty much a lock

Cap room and the #2 pick is a very valuable pick in this draft itself. Lot easier to build a team with a top 5-8 QB even without all the draft assets.

I have no idea why the Texans would say yes to this if they weren't getting the #2 pick out of it
Sure, but it's not even the same as Miami's #3 pick from Houston, imo. Jets have Darnold to trade to another team (or Houston, lol) plus the draft picks from the Jamal Adams trade. Jets certainly COULD do it and not cut their head off in the process. Texans could get Justin Fields/Wilson with no strings attached.

So you think the Jets should go all in on Watson? Or draft Zach Wilson/Fields/keep Darnald and build with all the draft assets and Cap Room they have built?

They should go for Watson. Do they get him? I doubt it. Guaranteed top 5-8 QB >>>>> Maybe a good QB

Jets should certainly be talking to Houston though. No excuse not to.

I still don't see Watson getting traded.

Agreed but on the flip side, no idea how they keep him happy. Bienemy may not be enough, they truly have such a long climb to relevancy in a division getting better and better. Minimal draft picks, cap issues. Bill O’Brien is special

Realistically, i'd imagine Darnold is probably still worth probably about a 3rd rounder to someone because of his age so I can kinda see this working out. Its still a massive loss for the Texans, though, if all they get is Fields or Wilson on a rebuilding team. There is no way I do this if I'm the Texans.

Not even sure I'd do this if I'm the Jets. You have an empowered QB evaluating head coaches on twitter and you have to deal with the NY media? NFL Head coaches have almost no job security. That sounds like a nightmare that is only solved with playoff wins. Good friggin luck.

Darnald and the Colts sounds intriguing to me
Reichs ability to develop
Offense that is run first
Oline as good as almost any
Top 5-10 defense

Hmm. Would have to consider that if I'm Houston

If the Jets are willing to trade both their 2021 first round picks and both 2022 first round picks, Houston should at least give it some consideration.

Houston would have to jump on that

it’s not completely insane that Wilson or Fields turn into excellent QBs

Houston coming up winners in a deal like that is very possible

Maybe I haven't fully considered how much the Texans would actually get out of this. Watson is not worth 4 1st round picks. Jets would be foolish to offer that.

Yea was gonna say. Thats too steep a price. I can see 2 or 3 firsts. Maybe some other picks

How about 3 first and a second? Maybe throw a decent player into the deal.

There's doable deals without giving up everything, I think. Houston is going to want a lot though. I doubt it happens anyway but I can see tge Jets offering the #2 overall plus next years first rounder and maybe a 2nd rd and keep the picks from Seattle. Maybe try to trade Darnold to the Colts or someone else in need of a QB for a 2nd or something. The Jets could have a pretty fast turnaround with a QB as good as Watson. They have the cap room to pay him and get a couple pieces in FA.

I do think at some point you would have to throw in a player. In a weird way the #2 pick might be worth as much as the other three combined.

I would have his trade value somewhere around just the two firsts from this year. Texans would need value right away. It sounds low but we've seen a decent number of paid QBs fade that it would give me pause to bet the farm on any single player.
