Lots of empty seats at Consol tonight... are the snow conditions still pretty bad up there?

No...Pens are sort of having some issues (and have since the inception of Consol) with basically becoming corporate. They don't have the suit infestation that Toronto or New York, but the club seats simply outprice many. Price of winning in some towns. Consol sucks. Building is fine, but I've yet to be at a game with a extraordinary atmosphere, whereas probably 75% of the games at Mellon had that feel.

Pens seem to have learned that when you're struggling against a goalie the best solution is generally to get in his face.

Caps need to react. The Pens just played their best 10 minutes against them this season.

Lol - those last two guys they showed with 1 in the Pens jersey and 1 in the Caps were great.

I need to know from people within other fanbases (esp on twitter): do those within your fanbase live and die with each goal? Or is that just a Pittsburgh area thing? The Caps scored on an easily fixed mistake and fans jumped to "We're screwed for the playoffs". :L

Burakovsky and Kuznetsov keep playing better and better.

If it wasn't for that stupid Erat trade for Forsberg, we'd have the best squad of sub-23-year old group in the NHL.

Not on Twitter, wouldn't no.

I'm sure overreaction is not unique to any fan base.

PS - Brooks Orpik owns Crosby in this series this year.

I think it's interesting to think about the early matchups (in the Sid-OV era) between these two and seeing them this year. Evolved quite a bit. Pretty tight checking game.

Has he sincerely done well this year? Can't say I've watched him, but I really started to resent the guy by the end of his time in town. Mostly because I found his form of leadership obnoxious and he had a penchant for going out of position to make a hit.

Nice job, Latta.

(That should have been Downie's fight, but he backed out)

ROOT showed a clip from Downie-Latta's fight in January. Errey: "And here's a fight from back in 2015..."

Wow, how would I enjoy hockey without fights. That added so much emotion.

Orpik has been great. Early in the year he had some struggles, but since about the 20-game mark, he's honestly been fantastic. He's in the top 5 in BOTH hits and blocked shots right now. Plays

Can we get a fucking interference call already? Pens have been ridiculous this period. I guess when you can't score, check the goalie.

Brouwer with a not so smart move. Nice save by him though, nice work Troy.

Holy schnitzels these announcers are brutal homers... They were shocked at that penalty.

I might have to mute...

The push after is what got it. It was deserved. I don't think they replayed that part.

But the idea that the Pens haven't gotten one prior?

Honestly, this Pens team is garbage. No way they are going anywhere this year.

Playoffs are a crap shoot, so as long as they're in the playoffs anything can happen. There's plenty of examples of teams struggling in February-early March and making a push.

I saw the push after from a mile away and didn't need a replay. Neither did you. They were losing their minds Jack Edwards style.

The refs have been letting it go all game, only calling the obvious ones. The first period, nothing was called until Comeau's obvious trip. And they let the goalie interference go until that one. The refs suck - homerism is refusing to see when they suck both ways.
