Should a great match up. Both teams are 4-2 on the year. This game is critical for both teams for eventual bowl positioning and to maintain a presence in the Top 25. Expect a lot of scoring in this game. It sets up well to be a typical desert shootout.
Keys to the game for both teams:
Washington:
Establish the Run with Bishop Sankey whose one of the best in the nation. ASU's defense has struggled to stop the run so far this year.
While UW likes to run the ball this year, they have got to get the passing game rolling this game. Huskies have one of the better WR corps in the nation, including All-American TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins. It’s time to get ASJ rolling and this is a perfect game to do so.
After loses to #2 Oregon and #5 Stanford, Huskies need to shake all that off, and refocus itself on this Saturdays game.
Limit the big play capabilities of the ASU passing attack. ASU QB Taylor Kelly has developed great chemistry with WR Jaelen Strong who’s had five consecutive 100-yard games.
Keep Marion Grice out of the end zone.
ASU:
ASU Dline needs to perform better than it has so far this year to shutdown/limit the UW run game. Turning the game into a shootout will benefit ASU.
Marion Grice has scored the most TDs in the nation and a beast in the red-zone. He can do it with his legs and his hands. ASU needs to put him to work every time they get near that goal line.
Establish the pass rush. Limit Keith Price's decisions. ASU's secondary is good at shutting down big pass plays, but this game will put them to the test. ASU has capitalized on turning INTs into points in 2013 against its competition. They’ll need a big day against the weapons UW is bringing down with them, including Kasen Williams, ASJ, and Jaydon Mickens & John Ross in the slot.
Final score prediction: UW 42 – ASU 31
