How do we secure our franchise qb?

Feel free to explain your vote. Sorry if you already did this @Stymietee

I went with trade for fields. I think he is solid and would light it up with a decent OLine and OC.

I would draft Marvin Harrison Jr. at #2.

I would then use earlier draft picks to build the OLine and grab a TE.

I voted for J. Daniels because it's too late to get the benefit associated with the rookie deal if the team acquired Fields. Unless Washington is able to trade and sign Fields to a less than market value contract immediately as a conditionof the trade, they put themselves in a QB time crunch in this rebuild/retool.

SN: In the 2022 NFL draft Washington had the 19th pick and Chicago had the 20th. There was one poster here calling for the team to trade up to pick 11 in order to draft him and it would have cost them less than what the Bears gave up to get him. (No. 20 overall pick, a fifth-rounder (No. 164 overall) and 2022 first- and fourth-round picks.)

in the meantime those same picks for Washington turned out to be
1. 2021 first = Jamin Davis
2. 2021 fifth = Darrick Forrest
3. 2022 first = trade down from 11 to 16= J. Dotson
4. 2022 fourth = Percy Butler
** Because Washington was selecting ahead of Chicago they likely don't pay as much to compete the trade.

Here is the Bears $2024 salary cap so far. Fields is on the last year of his rookie contract at $6 million plus. If you look off the right you will see calculated caps---- for Fields they are calculating $47 million in 2025.

It was the 2021 draft that Fields came out. Sorry for the typo.

My feeling is if you think fields is a franchise qb then you pay him market value and adjust accordingly. Fuck getting cute .

Now I picked the Daniel’s option and I bring him in to compete with Sam

I voted for Maye, but would be fine with Daniels also. I'm figuring Bears take Caleb and not interested in Fields. Not much talk of Penix or Bo Nix lately.

I am surprised Rick snider believes we should trade for fields.

I am OK with almost anything. If we draft, I go daniels.

I think the coaches alone will make us better.

They can take that comp 3rd the 49ers gave us if not good luck on a trade because if he was that good they wouldn't be trading him and would be asking for more in compensation teams just need to call their bluff

I think the poll is reflective of what peters, Quinn, and KK need to figure out.

1. Is howell the guy?
2. If not, can fields be the guy and can we trade for him?
3. If not, is williams a generational talent and is it worth moving up?
4. If not, who do we take? Maye or daniels?

That is my thought process if harris ever calls me...lol
