This team has needed a TE that can block for a long time.

I'd say he is a better receiver than Warren and a better blocker than Cooley. Of course that means I think Warren was a better blocker and Cooley a better receiver .... maybe. It is only one year.

Bates looks good. He looks better than a number two.

He’s a better blocker than most, and has pretty good hands. Supposedly he has “some of the best hands on the team,” according to the announcers over the last few games.

He isnt as much of a mathcup nightmare as logan is, but he’s already a better blcoker.

Two tight end sets in the future..

Two tight end sets at times. You know as well as I do that there are all kinds of sets. But yeah I agree with the use of two tight ends at times. It gives Turner more looks to present.

Absolutely correct.

It’s difficult to make a two tight end set your base set in today’s game, because it’s rare to have two tight ends that are both great blockers and great recievers (thus making your offense less predictable).

It’s not impossible though. Bill Bellicheck ran two tight sets as his base set for games at a time when he had Gronk and Hernandez as his tight ends. Of course, I believe he also had welker and Moss too..

I sat and talked to a good friend who was the Remington award center at D-11 football. We talked about this thread and he laughed. He said holy shit we had to learn ton of sets based on our opponent and down and distance. There isn't just one set .... defense or offense.

No, but there is one predominant set if the players you hsve in that set are mosmatches against everybody.

The pats had that with the two te thag they had, the niners rans two te sets with vernon davis in his prime, as dis the chargers with kellen winslow sr.

The panthers ran a lot of two rb sets with deAngelo Williams and the other guy they had. 3 rb sets when they included Tolbert in there.

The Pats ran multiple rb sets all the time as the predominant when they had all those backs - white, dillon, etc.

Your friend is right though. It’s more like tendencies…

I know, my friend and I were both right. Always glad to help.
