I don't like that he got hurt, but it is within the tackle box so therefore a legal play. It shows how much football has changed over the years, this kind of block has been around forever. What they did eliminate many years ago was the crack back blocks and in todays football you cannot cut block outside the tackle box.

apparently RR is gonna bring these two examples of that "legal block" up at the league competition committees

I am not shocked that he would and I don't have a problem with him doing so.

Out of the two plays I thought the block on Logan Thomas was unnecessary, although legal. I thought the block on Wise was legal. There are ways for Wise to not take that block full on.

When CTE became a thing and they outlawed hits to the head, that was fine with me. I do not believe it is the cause of many things it is blamed for or boxers would lead the world in murders and suicide. Anyhow, eliminating high hits meant more shots to the legs.

Todays NFL rules eliminated cut blocks outside the tackle box (that goes for offense or defense) and you can't have two offensive engaged with a defender one high and one low. I am good with that. Some of the calls are awful grey though. If the competition committee decides to eliminate cut blocks all together then tackling in the knee should be eliminated. That would mean you can tackle from just below the hips to the shoulder pads. Man will that cause some arguments during and after games.

Why don't we just play flag football? I played years of flag football in my 20s, you can't attack the legs and you can't hit to the head. It is really what the game is evolving into.

Football has always been a physical game, people who play the game understand and accept that. End of my rant. :D

they are!

not sure how many knees have been knocked out by these blocks last few years.

felt like RR wasnt against the block per se, seemed more like he felt, as you said, 'not necessary" in certain circumstances.

how the refs would arbitrate that, I have no clue.

and you are right, fans would be upset about it regardless

Washington has to win these last 3 games to make the playoffs or they stay home and become some crappy name which is probably going to happen anyways might be my last season being a fan of the NFL

Bad draft picks, especially high ones, have ramifications for years. We find ourselves, once again, looking for a franchise qb in a draft that doesn’t have one. So will we over reach (again) out of desperation, or can we find some sap that will do it for us and make this potential top 10 pick into multiple starters for the next 5 years or so via a trade back? Of course this means that we are purposely going into the 2022 season with an NFL journeyman for QB. We trade back and maybe we pick up an OL starter or a ILB that can cover ? Can we win in 2022 with such a QB?

I hope they still play the Senior Bowl. I think it is a great chance for one or two of these QBs to make a statement.
unless covid strikes hard it should be played

When the game slowed down for him, Chase Young made an impact play every game last year. Especially during the second half of the year. That’s while being double teamed for many of the games.

He may not be quite as versatile as Parsons, but that’s simply bc he’s a dlineman, not a lb.

Plus, he’s 2 inches taller and 20lbs heavier.

CY: 6’5” 265
MP: 6’3” 245

All good, does not change my mind that Parsons is a better player. Parsons is having an all-time rookie season.

Parsons has more sacks 13 vs. 9 and more tackles 79 vs. 47 and has done it in 9 less games.

The good news is they are both going to play a lot longer and hopefully Chase plays better than he has his first two years.

When you talk about size you didn't mention that Parsons has played DLine at that smaller size a good part of the year.
