Hilton Armstrong was on the Warriors D-League team previous to this. He put up good numbers in Santa Cruz. Gives us more depth with JO hurting.

Nedo and Baze have some company now at the end of the bench.

I'll be surprised if he sticks around until 2014. I'll bet he'll be a yoyo from here to Santa Cruz weekly.

I think he might be sticking around longer than that. Armstrong is a veteran player. He's been around and doesn't necessarily provide any "upside" in terms of development. The Warriors only bring him on if they feel he can contribute. Ezeli is still out, Kuzmic is gone, JO is injured and Speights is only starting to play a little better right now. I think he'll see some run out there early on.

We will agree to disagree, my POV is that he was brought in for Speights to practice against.

Speights probably abused Dedum when he was up here, and we don't have La Tax or Jeremey Tyler for Speights to work against.

Armstrong is a "healthy body" and not much else. Your back up 5 is and always will be D. Lee until his contract runs out here while JO and FE are sidelined.

Agreed. O'Neal didn't participate in practice yesterday, and is questionable for today's game. I think they realize they're going to have to get him in for surgery pretty quickly in order to make sure he's available at the end of the year, so they need a serviceable big guy behind Bogut, at least until Ezeli is back. I think Armstrong's the guy, and is going to stick for a while.

In a previous game thread when I mentioned "surprise surprise Hilton Armstrong," looking back at it I should have been thinking why wasn't he the first big called up?

Here's a couple highlight video's to get those of you who don't know Armstrong's game aquainted.

He looks pretty mobile and dynamic, that can't hurt. Got a few moves too.

His first game, probably without even practicing with the team, he played more time, and looked more effective, than Speights. He's going to be playing more as he gets acclimated, assuming O'Neal is actually going under the knife and isn't available.

During the game he said "a week or two, hopefully sooner." So yeah, 6-9 days sounds about right.

Bump,

Yes Armstrong is going to save us, wait a second, he's doing his best impression of RJ warming the bench.

I never said he was going to be an awesome sub, I just said he would stick rather than being shuttled back and forth to the D-league. He was signed to play defense/rebound if needed and 6 fouls at center spot. He was signed for depth, not upside. He'll be around at least until Ezeli is back at minimum.

Kuzmic is back with Santa Cruz. Reports are that he'll probably be back with the big club soon. Could spell the end of Armstrong, although Kuzmic should be spending the entire season in the D-League. He looks lost out there in the brief moments I've seen him play. I'd much rather take Armstrong over Kuzmic right now.

Sidenote: Dewayne Dedmon is averaging nearly 15pts and 15 rebounds and 3 blocks a game in Santa Cruz.

For the record :Hilton Armstrong played better than Kuzmic up to this point in my eyes. Kuzmic has a lot of proving to do from this point on. No one ever drafted in his spot has been a good NBA player.

Given Speights and D. Money Greens' emergence, I don't see many minutes for either player regardless.

Unless Bogut / D. Lee get into foul trouble, they will get scraps. If this holds true, leave both Armstrong / Kuzmic down in the D. League to find their game.

Speights has played inspired these last few games, he still doesn't have a reliable low post game, or go to low post move, but atleast the guy hustles both ways now. I think Green's energy is rubbing off on Speights, or maybe he's sick of smelling Nedo's deodorant, either way, the 11th and 12th man aren't needed.

If Festus comes back mid FEB, where's the FE progress report, Dubs are looking like a solid 7th seed, with a possibility of 4th if things go their way.
