I don’t remember what year it was, but I remember some players being interviewed at one of the Pro Bowl weekends and they asked them “biggest surprise?”

A few replied they were shocked how big Steve Atwater was, dude was a monster.

Randy Gradishar, Rod Smith, John Elway, Von Miller.
No ownership or coaching, although they are worthy. Players first.

This one is tough. Elway is the only no doubt player. He is #1 and it isn't close. I would go with TD as my #2 on this as he had a run of dominance that lead to 2 superbowls and is only matched by the top 3-4 running backs ever. We don't have the back to backs without TD. Now it gets harder, but I am going to go with Peyton Manning as #3. While he didn't play a ton of years with the Broncos he lit it up and was the catalyst to 4 straight division titles, the best offensive season ever, 2 SB appearances and one win. It was as dominant as TD's stretch with the Broncos and we don't have the supporting cast to win the SB if Manning isn't a Bronco. While I would love to go with either Von or Floyd as #4 and get if people want to go with players only I have to go with Pat Bowlen here. His run as an Owner while he was alive is top 3 ever. The accomplishments are too many to name and organizations don't win that consistently unless they are really well run which starts at the top. We are a small market team like the Browns without Bowlen so have to give him his props.

Elway, TD, Manning, Bowlen

How do you get such players without having the ownership or coaches first?

I appreciate the process you took to arrive at your chosen four. Hard to disagree. If the task was to build a list of 10 of the greatest, it would be relatively easy but four is an impossible decision.

And the official Bronco's forum poll says: Elway, Terrell Davis, Von Miller and Peyton Manning - in that order.

Next order of business - how do the Broncos display this Mount Rushmore and where would it go?

I won't assist with funding unless they're bobble heads.

I thought the Flatirons would be a good place, but the Colorado Buffs will probably sell commercial space on them as part of the new college football revenue picture.

Now - since it is 2024 - I'm thinking Holograms projected onto the Colorado Capitol Dome in Denver - that come alive and show up on the field as jolly green giant type holograms on the field - exhorting Bronco fans at dramatic moments during the game.

Have you gone back to whatever drugs you were using during your Cal Berkeley days?!

Broncos Mount Rushmore should be carved on the side of Pike's Peak or within the Garden of the Gods.
in the early 70's my family had a bear sleeping on our hood of our car on pike peak ...we all woke up freaking out I was 5 years old And my mom was waking up my dad telling him we have a bear on the hood we need to get out of here .. we all were wide eyed for that departure ...Good choice .. it also gave me a good chuckle .

This made me think of these John Prine lyrics:

Sam Stone

There's a hole in Daddy's arm - where all the money goes
Jesus Christ died for nothing - I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears - don't stop to count the years
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.

But the Morphine eased the pain, and the grass grew around his brain,.

Something like that - anyways.
