I believe the NFL releases the reason for suspension, but not the specific drug.

Is that true? How does the media get knowledge of players using steroids then? Like with Merriman? Is it only when the player volunteers that information? Or does that information get leaked?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think under the old CBA the NFL could say what the substance was that the player got caught using. I think the non-disclosure policy today is because of the new CBA.

Players were saying it was Adderall when it might not have been. Maybe they'll start saying they missed the test or was late, now? Depending on the source of the bold, people could be taking advantage of the confidentiality. Unless the league can say it was the tests, just not which drug. Then, they'd just say it when the suspension is announced.

:gaah: I hate when I change one part of my sentence but forget to fix the other. This time using a "was" when I forgot to change it to a "were." I'm sure you all was [sic] hung up on that. ;)

I heard he didn't test positive for anything. That he got busted watering down a urine a test. Which when you think about it is worse than testing positive for something because you are trying to cheat twice.

He bought Onterrio Smith's old wizzinator huh? :)

This just shows it was PEDs and not recreational drugs because watering down a sample isn't going to matter if you test positive for stuff like marijuana, etc. That stuff is either there or it's not. But it could alter perceived levels of hormones like testosterone, etc.

Not necessarily on the drug test not being fooled by a water down. But either way, I think the NFL has to treat it as a worse case scenario.... you have to punish him for what the worst thing he could have taken is and then punish him a little more for watering down. Six games sounds about right.

It feels kind of dirty that he and Aldon Smith exchanged jerseys after the Denver game.

Now I hear Miller is a person of interest in a multiple homicide in a Colorado bar. Not looking good for the brother.

He is not a person of interest. His name was listed on a possible list of witnesses because he is a friend of a friend who shot five people. He said today he has actually never met this person.

Oh. That sounds better than the dreaded "Person of Interest".

I was thinking about appeals and pending suspensions like ARod. I thought that it should be that the player gets to play while the case is pending, but if he loses the appeal, he isn't paid for those games and the suspensions' full time starts after the appeal. It would be up to him to play or not, insurance still applies to in game injuries.

Of course, this would be subject to a quick, swift appeals process, as the league couldn't drag its feet and get free play. I thought if overturned, league pays instead of team? But those two things would push the league with further incentive to not overturn the suspension. So, I don't know - I just saw a piece on how the players get to appeal, get paid more, and then miss out the same or less. If someone is facing his last games, why not?

Von Miller - LB - Broncos

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports suspended Broncos SLB Von Miller was originally facing only a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, but more games were tacked on for "further violation during (Miller's) appeal."

Per NFL.com's Albert Breer, Miller provided a "diluted sample" at some point, but that the case has "complications that go far beyond that." Whatever Miller did angered the league, as Breer reports The Shield mulled pursuing an eight or even 16-game ban.

Well, now Von Miller was cited for speeding & driving without a license.

John Clayton says this won't add to his suspension though.

Glad they got Miller and we got Smith. Yes I'm aware of Aldon's problems
