Yeah, close games early in the season I guess, just as a test. Obviously I'd rather we blow everyone out.

It's good to have a close game, see who steps up. Green and Eddie did.

Green had an off night (4-15 from the field and a lot of shots he would usually make) but made up for it by drawing a lot fouls and living at the charity strip. Scoring 16-16 from the charity strip was a pretty big.

11 offensive rebounds against an undersized team is unacceptable. Rotation is pretty bad on the defensive side as well.

It seemed like UNC-G were taking and making a lot of insane shots.

Ugly game at times, but we made the shots when we needed to and got the win. Got one more opponent that we should walk over before we get a test against Iowa.

I have to say, it was pretty cool to watch the game on my computer and look at the stats on my WiiU gamepad.

Hmm. VT was an 11 pt favorite over Rhode Island and a 7 pt favorite over UNCG. No idea what the ETSU and VMI games were

Also maybe the easiest opening schedule since 84-85? Definitely like what I see from Marshall Wood though. Can't imagine with DFS and Harrell

couldn't catch the game, but looks like we managed to win by double figures despite bad rebounding, an off night from behind the arc (everyone but Eddie), and very little from Raines (who only played 18 minutes, I presume due to foul trouble). Good to see Barksdale contributing. Wonder what was up with Rankin, playing 20 minutes and only having 2 assists and a steal to show for it.

I have to think we miss Harrell a lot more than DFS at this point. Eddie has been playing well, and I'm not sure how we could effectively get both on the court at the same time. They both really need to be playing the wing. Would be wonderful to have the depth, of course, if we could have kept them both happy.

I remember my senior year (2001-02) when you could count the televised games on your balls.

These next 3 games will show what the team is made of. We really struggled the last two games despite pulling out the W in both. Barksdale will have to continue to improve and Raines will have to pick it up where he left off last year. I think part of the trouble is that he's been double teamed a lot by smaller teams. Raines has really struggled to pass out of the double team this year. I don't think we can let Green/Brown/Eddie carry us this year and expect to win many games.

post play definitely needs to continue to improve. But then again, it should... we've got some young guys getting significant minutes, and Raines isn't young but he is still relatively inexperienced for a Junior given his history of injuries. How fast it improves... we shall see. If I had to predict, I'd say we beat Iowa and lose the next two. But I could see us losing to Iowa, too.

WVU may not be very good this year. Iowa is still a question mark, but OSU looks like the real deal.
