For fun and a little lunch time to kill I'm make my thoughts on our class for 2014. Stiney said we'd take about 18 with 3 -4 linemen so here goes

QB - Jacob Park
RB - Marshawn Williams
TE - Xavier Burke
WR - Kendrick Holland
OL - Stephen Moss, Damian Prince, Coleman Thomas, Nolan Kelleher
DL - Kentavious Street, Dashawn Hand, Vincent Mihota, Ricky Walker, Jaylyn Holmes
LB - Melvin Keihn
DB - Javon Harrison, CJ Reavis
ATH - Noah Brown, Trace McSorley

No info at all to go on, just thinking about what types of players we generally get and giving a bit of an upgrade on recruiting. Probably a lot of wishful thinking and then again probably not enough wishful thinking on others.

Question: who do you guys consider the bigger (or maybe more important) prospect to land, Steven Moss or Prince?

Moss is a highly touted IN STATE guy, but Prince is a 5 star, out of state lineman. I could go either way personally.

I don't know. I'd love to put him on the list but I thought I read or heard something about him leaning another way, plus by the time I went back to study on him I was at 18.

we will take more than 18 in 2014. The 18 number you heard must have been for 2013.

I hope we do take more than 18 as loaded as this class is and with many of the connections we already have to kids. I'd love to see another 23 - 24 class this year. Can't find the article where I read 18 kids so I must have dreamed it up. Hey I say pack as much of that talent in as wants to jump on board.

I know it would be a bit many DL's to take but I'd love to see us squeeze Nnadi in there as well.

I think people could actually make a case for having Nnadi higher on our board than Brown. Nnadi fits our system to the T.

Oh now i remember where we saw it, on Tech Talk Live. Dunno how to embed tweets from my phone but its the 3rd tweet down.

That 15-17 sounds like a pretty modest number to me. I am hoping for 20ish. With Cole having to quit football, and possibly an early entrant or two, maybe a couple more than that. Then again..I don't know how the greyshirts, preps, etc. fits into the numbers, so maybe what Stiney is saying is more in line with what will happen. With this class being as loaded as it is, I am hoping for 20+.

Wow... I could have sworn I'd read that we'd be taking 24-25, but now that I go look at the roster I see we only have 13 scholarship seniors and very few juniors with much chance of going pro early (thinking Corey Marshall and Kyshoen Jarrett here). Leal might decide to leave, but personally I like his chances of earning the starting gig his final year. Someone else might walk away with their degree, but that's always hard to predict. We would never hope for more injury-related departures like Cole. So... looks like the 2014 class isn't going to be as large as I'd been expecting. :(

13 seniors, Cole not coming back, this being a small class (so early enroll can count towards 2013), greyshirting, random attrition, I bet we sign 20

what class guys count against isn't going to be the issue. We've got plenty of leeway there.

Cole leaving will help us find room for our 2013 class, not the 2014 guys. By my count, even considering that Cole isn't coming back we'll still need 4 more guys to leave / lose their scholarship (e.g. was the St. Germain scholly just given for the spring semester or going forward?) or delay enrollment (e.g. Reid) in order to stay below the 85 scholarship limit this fall. Harris could be one of those guys if he can't get past the NCAA clearinghouse.

We're going to need quite a bit of additional attrition to get up to a 2014 class of 20 guys unless a fair number of them will prep/greyshirt.

it kind of seems like we're losing ground with alot of our top targets aside from Hand
