I sort of like the approach that Florida State took back years ago when they lost too many games over inconsistent kicking. We have 80-some scholarships. A few of those should be set aside for place-kickers .. period. Kicking wins and loses so many games. I know that we just got an AA kicker. I'm baffled that he didn't get more offers than he did. I'm baffled that more teams don't offer scholarships. Either way, I'd certainly expect Dillon Christopher to get more than one offer in the next year and it would really stink to lose him./QUOTE]

We could certainly improve in the kickoff department. Meyer had many good kickoffs, but he became very inconsistent with a lot of low line drives and balls kicked out of bounds. At the very least, Christopher could come in and handle kickoffs and FG's of the 45 yds+ variety.

What kickers will VT likely have on scholarship startin in 2013?

Farrell takes some "Mid Atlantic" questions concerning the Hokies and others. He seems to think the Hokies are poised for another top 25 class and maybe even higher. He thinks Fisher was a huge pickup early and says that we are a "serious player" with Bucky Hodges and "the team to beat" for Fuller.

Has he been to any camps? Seems like Kohl's is the Holy Grail of kickers and might be in your best interest to talk with them. Matter in fact .. most of the major recruiting services aren't held in as high a regard as Kohl's (when it comes to kickers). They have a 1-day camp in Richmond on June 26th. $275 though (ouch) .. But money well spent for the exposure

He has been to three NCS camps. I am currently debating whether to go to Kohls or not. We have several visits to make and every time we go to tech it's at least $100 in gas, $100 plus for hotel and then food. Also we are going to JMU in March, maybe Jr. Rank camp if they have something for kickers, ODU specialist camp and possibly Dukes specialist camp. Also going to be working with Dickie Van Dyke weekly (small fee). I have very limited funds so I have to choose where I spend it wisely. We want to go to the spring game at Tech and camp on June 3rd. If he for some reason doesn't have a good day on June 3rd we are going to go back July 14th for the second camp. If I can manage it he will go to the Kohl's camp. Thanks for the information. Someone else on here had also told me about the camp too. We get something in the mail almostly weekly about camps. A lot of them are purely evaluation camps and no real instruction. I'd rather spend money on school camps and individual instruction if I have to pick and choose. I do appreciate the information and the great encouragement from this board!

With Fisher possibly playing safety plus Jefferson, Shegog, Fuller, and Harris should complete our DB-2013-campaign, eh? And possibly Simeon Thomas from Florida??

Anyone know how we're looking with some of these WRs ?? A few of them (North, Lemay) look VERY good. And are Parker and Newsome both being recruited as WRs ??

Neal goes to the high school I graduated from 2 years ago. Unheard of from someone around there to be getting offers from schools such as OSU VT Clemson, etc. Sure hope he is a hokie when its all said and done.

I'm far from a scout but looked at some video yesterday on some of these QBs. What does everyone think about the 4 QBs with offers? And Hackenberg and Burns as well? I'm sort of changing my thinking about not offering Hackenberg and Burns .. especially Burns. He seems to get around well enough and he has a pretty and fast release. He seems very athletic and is a big-enough guy. Can see why they want Bucky to feel like "the man" (in VA at least) .. but it just doesn't make sense that we have 3 really good QBs in VA and have only offered one of them. I might understand if we just aren't looking for pro-style QBs but some of these other OOS QBs that we've offered are certainly not what I would call dual-threat. Of the OOS guys, I think the kid from Butler, all-around, looks really good.

What video are you watching of Burns that you like? The only one I've found is a 3 minute or so one on youtube and he clearly looks behind Hackenberg and Hodges. Hodges is the best runner of the 3 and Hackenberg might have a slight edge over Hodges in the passing department. I'd be happy with either Hackenberg or Hodges
