Bummer about Kirven but still a very strong finish and a great class by the Hokies. I'm surprised at all the vitriol at Blue.

Per Twitter:

Per coach, Benedictine WR Charley Meyer will walk on at Virginia Tech. Turns down offers from UR, W&M, JMU, Navy, and others. #hokies

Me too, it was extremely poor taste and does not reflect the class we claim to have over some of our rivals.

Blue NEVER de-committed from Virginia Tech, and now that we know he is Hokie, making all of those statements looks childish at the very least.

People do realize that some students going to VT had the school as their 2nd or 3rd option, and ended up in Blacksburg because it was the best option they had left. Most of those same students become diehard Hokies, season ticket holders, boosters, and "real" Hokies. "C'mon, man!"

Question: If Ken Crawley got a last-second re-offer from VT and accepted, would we bash him?

Let's let up a bit on Blue. Let him make his own call.

Blue is a Hokie. It's already been decided for him. Miami gave his spot to a Louisville commitment, Dequan Ivery. Ivery has already de-committed and committed to Miami.

agreed -- who wouldn't want to play CFB in their back yard (other than Korren Kirven ;) ) hehe .. in all seriousness, each kid has their own priorities and has to live and die by their own decision .. that's why they make the decision and we don't .. Damn -- Saban must be good though to make that situation look much better than it really is .. For once -- I'd like to get an early, silent VT commit who will play Saban with a recorder -- just to hear what kind of stuff this guy is selling. hehe .. Give him props -- he's a hell of a recruiter -- I'm trying to find confirmation on Blue .. but if Kirven is the only one we lose today, I'd say it's definitely a great class.

Did not hear that..... If true then anything could still happen. Miami still hasn't sent Blue an offer yet though.

Edit:
Papa Cane @SaveUMFootballReply
Do Not Expect: TE Brandon Holifield to sign with Miami today. I think that UM will use that spot for someone else. Stay tuned.

Are the heights and weights on hokiesports ones we actually measured, or are they guesses?

Making room for??? If Blue has already signed and sent in the LOI it is now binding correct (if VT wanted to push the issue). I think a decommit from Blue is not likely at this point.

Just tuned in. Disappointing and surprising KK is headed to Tuscaloosa, I will never wish ill will to a local guy, but as many of you have said, he will have a hard time breaking into the depth chart down there in the foreseeable future. He could end up being the DL version of Philip Sims. Regardless, Good Luck to him.

As far as the rest, I am very excited to have Caleb and Ekanem join the hokienation today. I think Caleb will get significant playing time (maybe even as early as this year) very early in his career. Ekanem gives us even more depth on DL. If one of these true DT end up being a diamond in the rough/late bloomer (ahem..Bruce's boy perhaps) then (along with our SUPERIOR group of LBs and a couple very nice DBs) our very strong defensive tradition will continue for years to come. Great class. Now lets go get some great kids for next year!!!

I'm glad Blue signed with the Hokies.

Who want's to be the very last guy to sign with Miami anyway?

BTW, isn't Miami going to get slammed with violations? Why are people still signing on with a sinking ship?

Once a recruit signs a letter of intent, It's between the recruit and the NCAA, not the school, right?

There's a reason for the letters of intent, so that recruits aren't changing schools after scholarships are awarded. That would become a mess.

I'm glad Blue signed with VT, and there shouldn't be any bad blood there. He was pretty honest with his intentions all along.

Can't count Blue until he's actually listed as having sent in his LOI...not there yet on the HokieSports site: HokieSports - 2012 LOI Signees

It isn't on the hokiesports site, what is your source that he has signed?
