Has there been any mention of Greg Jones of Lake Braddock on the boards? May turn out to be a huge walk-on pickup at DB.
I do not know much about Greg Jones. He was recruited by Bud Foster and I would imagine that the way the DB recruiting was shut down pretty early he did not get much coverage on the boards. Glad to have him, he looks like he could be a player.

Okay...I don't get it.

Jones looks REALLY good on film! Why didn't he get a ton of offers? He played DB, wildcat QB, and punt returner, and looked good playing all three of positions.

This are the quotes I liked best from this article:

Caleb was a unanimous pick for the No. 1 slot by the voters, consisting of college coaches from the ACC and SEC.

"He's a great athlete. An elite athlete," one coach said. "He has size, speed — all those things. I think he's clearly the No. 1."

Another coach added, "He has great explosion and acceleration. He can run away from people."

The fact that SEC and ACC coaches were the voters in this poll is important to me. They should know talent when they see it.

The part about having the speed to run away from people is also good to hear. That seems to refute the 4.71 forty awarded to him by Rivals.

Here's a link to the complete A-List:

The 2012 A-List

1. Joel Caleb - Clover Hill, Athlete 6-3, 205, Undecided

40 times can be deceptive. Darren Evans had a better 40 time than Ryan Williams at the combine.

Reading VN at this point is toxic, very little real, informed posting in that thread.

Early vibes seem better on Kirven.

Not by very much. Evans was faster than Williams by about a hair - 4.56 to 4.59. You'd need some pretty sophisticated photo equipment to see who crossed the finish line first.

Point still stands though, 40yd dashes are deceptive. 20yd dashes and the shuttle are better representives of a prospects athletic ability IMO.

My original point had to do with the slow 40-time (4.71) posted by Rivals for Caleb that is inconsistent with his evaluations by the ACC and SEC coaches.

JMHO, but if you want a better indicator of speed/quickness/explosiveness, I would substitute the 10-yard dash over that of the 20-yard dash.

crabwalk is the best indicator for speed
