Initially, I felt the same way. If the coaches are promoting this, then you can't fault the players or punish the players for the system the coaches have in place. Unless of course the league is suggesting the players not listen to their coaches or something.

But then you figure some of these veterans players were doling out their own personal cash for injuring star QB's in playoff games, and then the suspensions to an extent are more justifiable.

That said, no way I believe the players should be getting equal suspensions as the coaches. If Payton got 16 games, then the players should absolutely be less than that.

After Seau, this punishment is almost cemented. Before hand, I would have agreed with you, but now they have this to point at what could happen to players with excessive force that goes against league rules and conduct.

Vilma is toast after poor Seau shot himself.
