The secondary did well, playing zone worked. Rivers couldn't go deep. Tackling sucked mostly.
If it's a rebuilding year then McNabb might as well go home now, Ponder can hand off every play.
We don't know if it's Mustgrave's play calling or McNabb getting nervous, and not looking deep. For all we know McNabb doesn't look for his first and second read and just gets rid of it to his hot guy.:noidea:

But they need to go deep a hell of a lot more if they want AP to be effective for sure.

This!!! If it's a rebuilding year, why not get the QB we hope to be a franchise QB in there and get some XP?

Mixed feelings on that. My thoughts on it are these:

1) McNuggets is going to pass along some wisdom simply by being there. Now I will grant you, the argument could be made, and it would be a valid one, that he would still get that advice if Ponder was starting and McNuggeets was rising the pine.

2) I'd rather see McNuggets get all beat up while the O line learns how to play than Christan. Why risk the future while you are still forging the line?

3) I think its good that Ponder is exposed to whats going on in the chatter between the coaches (I assume he is on a headset while on the sidelines). When the guy in the booth calls down and says something about something he sees happening in the defense, he will learn to read whats going on from that exposure better than if he was there trying to dodge bodies.

Dont get me wrong, I am NOT a McNuggets fan. I would have preferred if they started Joe Webb this year personally. But I also have faith in Leslie and will trust his judgment.

What up MVF? Don't worry, it'll get better. LF just needs to open it up a bit. I'm all for smashmouth football, and obviously AP should get plenty of touches, but ya can't just keep trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. Ya gotta go with the flow of the game, and call it accordingly. IMO, the gameplan was very blah. (for lack of better words).

I don't think it all falls on McNubb, (tho, I've never been a big fan). 39 yards is definitely awful, but the playcalling was equally bad.

Onto next week...

Btw.....I still peruse FOX once in awhile, tho I can't log in or create a new account (bastards)...and I noticed that Big.Arm/Lil' Wenis is nowhere to found. lmao

That's reason enough to root for the Bears and/or Vikes right there!

I hope the Bears dominate all year just so he'll stay gone.

Baseball and Football

by George Carlin
Baseball is different from any other sport, very different. For instance, in most sports you score points or goals; in baseball you score runs. In most sports the ball, or object, is put in play by the offensive team; in baseball the defensive team puts the ball in play, and only the defense is allowed to touch the ball. In fact, in baseball if an offensive player touches the ball intentionally, he's out; sometimes unintentionally, he's out.

Also: in football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and all sports played with a ball, you score with the ball and in baseball the ball prevents you from scoring.

In most sports the team is run by a coach; in baseball the team is run by a manager. And only in baseball does the manager or coach wear the same clothing the players do. If you'd ever seen John Madden in his Oakland Raiders uniform, you'd know the reason for this custom.

Now, I've mentioned football. Baseball & football are the two most popular spectator sports in this country. And as such, it seems they ought to be able to tell us something about ourselves and our values.

I enjoy comparing baseball and football:

Baseball is a nineteenth-century pastoral game.
Football is a twentieth-century technological struggle.

Baseball is played on a diamond, in a park. The baseball park!
Football is played on a gridiron, in a stadium, sometimes called Soldier Field or War Memorial Stadium.

Baseball begins in the spring, the season of new life.
Football begins in the fall, when everything's dying.

In football you wear a helmet.
In baseball you wear a cap.

Football is concerned with downs - what down is it?
Baseball is concerned with ups - who's up?

In football you receive a penalty.
In baseball you make an error.

In football the specialist comes in to kick.
In baseball the specialist comes in to relieve somebody.

Football has hitting, clipping, spearing, piling on, personal fouls, late hitting and unnecessary roughness.
Baseball has the sacrifice.

Football is played in any kind of weather: rain, snow, sleet, hail, fog...
In baseball, if it rains, we don't go out to play.:rain:

Baseball has the seventh inning stretch.
Football has the two minute warning.

Baseball has no time limit: we don't know when it's gonna end - might have extra innings.:noidea:

Football is rigidly timed, and it will end even if we've got to go to sudden death.
In baseball, during the game, in the stands, there's kind of a picnic feeling; emotions may run high or low, but there's not too much unpleasantness.
In football, during the game in the stands, you can be sure that at least twenty-seven times you're capable of taking the life of a fellow human being.

And finally, the objectives of the two games are completely different:

In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun.:laser: With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.

In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! - I hope I'll be safe at home!:)

Here's my take I still think were better than Detroit. Who beat Tampa Bay at home. So I still think we have a pretty good chance of pulling this one out.
