I found ways to get creative with wood building just takes some experimentation. It does get better when you have tar from the Plains Biome though. Have you tried building with Core wood? Can get some good log cabin loos with it. Stone cutting and building is a lot more difficult than wood with the structural integrity. Once you kill the Elder and get to the Swamp Biome and start getting iron, building gets a lot more fun and creative.

My first play through it took me a long time to find the Merchant.

Still haven’t been able to track down that damned merchant. I swear, he is avoiding me.

I defeated the Elder, and set up a staging cabin outside a swamp, but I still don’t feel strong enough to venture in yet. Though ogre-looking guys eat me for breakfast every time I get near. I need to finish upgrading some of my gear, which I am working on now. Prob is, getting all the ores back to the base is a BITCH.

I read that they added a pause function, but I can’t find it anywhere. Do you know what the default pause button is on keyboard? I tried [esc] but that just brought up the menu. The game still appears to proceed.

Not heard about a pause function. As far as ore goes, i admit I use a workaround on that, although in one of my earlier play throughs I actually built a road and used a cart. The strength belt does make life easier though.

The boats suck. I am going the road route currently. Going to make a bunch of waystations along the way.

I didn’t realize this game uses the old Diablo 2 muling system.

I will have to think about this to determine if I think it is a cheat or not.

I think ultimately I will try to find a stable of that allows ores etc to be teleported. But I think I want to “earn” that cheat first by completing my current road and clearing any veins I encounter along the way.

that should take me a few weeks at least anyway, so it will allow me to think it through more in depth and decide how I want to proceed.

Yea. I did play through the correct way once but, the sheer volume of ore needed the create castles and such caused me to mule the rest of the play throughs.

I hate cheats, but if there is some mechanic that I feel “breaks” the game imho, I do allow myself to use exploits, mods or flat out cheats as long I do SOMETHING in the game to “earn” the boost. Then I view it as just that. A boost.
