The discussion in the general thread was verging on hijacking. So I figured this would work…

@Bedlam131

I took out another 3 trolls today. I am starting to get the feel for them. I was basically just running, than spinning around and getting 2 or 3 shots off (trying for head shots). But the last one I killed was in a forested area. I will continue to try that method moving forward.

I just found a dwarf spawner near the ocean. Not a great location, but I will see if I can make a farm out of it, just to do it.

I think I have maxed my crafting unlocks until I go for the elder. I found his location, but he is super far away. I fear I am in a bit of a lull until I get to him. I don’t have portals yet, obviously, so I am not certain how I will proceed. Maybe just make a ton of stronghold outposts?

Valheim has great terraforming capabilities, but the lack of tunneling needs to be addressed. Definitely an area where Minecraft has the advantage.

Make one main base for all your crafting and living needs, highest comfort level, forging, farming, etc. Then just make staging bases for raids, mining and foraging. Use portals to go to and from your staging bases. My staging bases are pretty basic. To start with you get the surtling cores from the burial chambers to make portals and things needed for refining ores.

I have a bunch of surtling cores. I was able to make a smelter and a kiln. But the tin bars I made did not trigger any crafting unlocks.

I have outlined the island i am on to the rivers edge. Maybe I will concentrate on more fully outlining the island/continent so I am surrounded by ocean (not sure if that is even a thing in this game)? That would at least give me an interim goal while I make my way to the elder (I think he is on a different island/continent).

Have you mined any copper? Need it and tin to unlock bronze then you will unlock a lot of stuff on your forge. Get a bonze axe and nails proto. The bronze axe allows you to cut down birch for Fine Wood. and do not forget to cut down pines in the Dark Forest for Core Wood. Both of which will unlock some stuff for you.

I haven’t found any copper. I will look for it next time I play.

And I didn’t realize pines drop special stuff. Every time I have chopped them down to this point, they have just dropped normal wood.

This game looks pretty darn cool. I'm just not sure Ill have the time for this. I think the youtuber SkillUp said this was his Game of the year. Ive seen other youtubers say its amazing while others are waiting for improvements.

Copper looks just like normal big rocks but with fine copper veins running through it.

Also, don't forget to use your map and mark stuff, like large patches of berries, mushrooms, ore nodes, etc. as you pass them or don't have time for them.

Do ores respawn?

And I can see tin from a ways away. It has a metallic sheen to it you can see from afar. I will do some research on what copper looks like.

It certainly has some glaring holes (tunneling, for one, but I think I saw that they are working on that for the next big update).

Of course, adding some more storyline or NPCs would be great, but that isn’t really what these early release games are about. They really are more about proof of concept than anything else.

No, but I am in the habit of marking them for later mining if needed.
Aw. Yes, I do that if I notice something I need and either don’t have room in my pack or don’t have time to do right away.

I made a cabin that I am using as my current main base, but there are some serious issues with it moving forward. I think I may know where I will move my main base to, and it isn’t that far away, luckily. It is flatter and on the water (river).

But I am not feeling the need to relocate just yet. I can continue to explore for at least a few more days before I REALLY feel the crunch.
