I love the thought AZ but now the reality lol. we are not getting tanaka as there are too many other big spenders who want him. Probably not getting Napoli as he wants to stay in Beantown and will take less to do so. Most projections say we will get choo and not jacoby . And from all accounts it looks like we will pickup 2 bullpen arms. I do believe however that we will get hart.

Oh you are much closer to reality on this than I am. My point of doing this was to show that even after 12 years of futility that one of-season, if done right, can change the whole outlook of an organization while still keeping its prospects and maintaining a reasonable payroll.

What I think will actually happen is something like this:
Sign Hart for 2/$14M
Sign Nelson Cruz for 4/$60M
Sign Kazmir for 2/$14 (or Chen same price whoever accepts first)
Sign 2 bullpen arms (LH and a former closer on incentive deal)
Trade Franklin and Paxton for Encarnacion

I am not suggesting I like any of these moves (except the Hart deal), but I can see Jack doing them to show something to fans and it won't work in the end. :lame:

"The expectation is" that the Mariners will target right-handed hitters such as Jhonny Peralta, Marlon Byrd, Mike Napoli and Nelson Cruz this offseason, Joel Sherman of the New York Post writes. The M's were particularly weak from the right side of the plate last season and will look to upgrade their right-handed bats, though really, Seattle will look to add hitting in any form. Ken Rosenthal also noted that the Mariners were looking at right-handed hitters earlier this week, though he noted that the M's were in on Napoli. Here's some more news from around the AL West...

We can cross Byrd off the list. He signed with the Phillies.

Its nit picking but I really hate when baseball guys say the M's are targeting someone instead of saying going after which ever player.
