Why would Dallas trade him when they lead their division? A winning team headed to the playoffs will be more attractive to any perspective buyer.

Chuck is going to have to overpay in order to get UFA's to consider the Islanders. Erhoff & Bieksa could be targets.

I don't fully understand the situation, but apparently they have no chance of resigning him because of money/ownership issues? That's just what I've seen. I guess it's sort of like the JBo situation of a few years back, except the Stars are in a much better place than the Panthers were.

The thing is, how many teams can Dallas have to work with? You need a team that is:
A.) A contender
B.) With a bunch of cap space
C.) Willing to give high picks
D.) That HAS a few good prospects and can afford to sacrifice one or more

That narrows the playing field honestly. Obviously they can't give him away because of their situation, but they have to get a roster player in the deal with years left, correct? I'd assume at least. That's where the Pens probably bail.

EDIT: And one thing I know for certain (or I doubt significantly) is that Shero won't be giving up someone like Despres or Tangradi. I'd be surprised at least. Not when we're going into a postseason without Geno.

Hey Flames fans!
How do you feel about Tanguay? He was once rumoured on the market, but I assume that may be different now with the Flames current situation.

I understand the potential of losing Richards makes him a target for trade rumors. The Rangers are the obvious destination for him because of Torts & the Rangers have said they would be willing to make a deal for him now rather than wait until July 1st.

I just think the Stars would anger their fans big time if they were to trade him now considering the success they've had this season.

Alex Tanguay has been a pleasant surprise and he's the best passer on the entire team (I just wish he would shoot the puck more).

That's certainly the hole in the rumor...
