What about the Smith kid - S plays with Lattamore... 4* maybe? Any word on his interest level? I read somewhere about him and Lattamore - I think Latt's a lock of the nutz-but don't recall w/ confidence what I read.

I think Lattimore and and Smith are a package deal. Not sure where Lattimore eventually plays. He could be a DB, RB or even WR. I think Erick Smith is a lock to play S. Don't forget Ted Ginn Sr is their coach and don't make the mistake of thinking that makes them a lock for the nuts. Word is he advised his son to go to Michigan. Ginn Sr. really likes Hoke and Mattison but geography dictates that the nuts have a decided edge.

I really think the staff will swing for the fences (Fournette). If they miss they might have a better chance at some good talent in '15.
I've said it before but I will say it again. Don't underestimate Deveon Smith. My gut says he has a better makeup than Green.

All in all, it looks like Michigan is in a position to go after the best talent available regardless of position.

One other thing, does anyone know if Cleary is going to get a scholarship?

My guess is this class is pretty much sealed up after the BBQ with the exception of Hand.

There is no indication that Mcdowell will commit anytime soon and same goes for Westphal. This class still has a long ways to go.

?????? They have 14 committed and currently have 16-17 available. McD will be Blue. February is a long way but this class is mostly finished. I understand some people like picking internet fights but why not drop the attitude?

I don't think we'll get Westphal or any RB in this class unless we send out more offers... I would like to see (realistically speaking) Hand/McDowell/Nicholson/John Smith (stole that pick from TTB) and some OL yet to be offered.

Although without Hand I think the only real important guy would be Westphal. He is 50/50 from what I have read.

Funny how the Aaron Hernandez thing has followed Meyer and he has been forced to issue satements about it. I think maybe Meyer is afraid of what might still come out. After reading everything Hernandez did and was into I just can't see him not being a thug for his time at Florida! Meaning multiple issues all under Meyer's watch!

College football coaches are paid enormous sums to win football games and fired if they cannot. Generally, coaches will use any asset that helps them achieve that goal and protect that asset when it becomes threatened. Meyer didn't condone what Hernandez did (allegedly) and there is no indication that Meyer fostered criminal behavior.

Yeah this visit is all thanks to Peppers... this kid will most likely end up in the SEC but it sure feels good to have a top 10 guy already committed, another top 10 guy as a solid candidate, and yet another top 10 guy looking your way...

I agree that there is virtually no shot at him committing to Michigan. The seed may be planted when he visits but it will be squashed once the social pressures weigh on him. Plus, he probably belongs in the SEC. Until the B1G improves their overall talent level, a true competitor is going to want to play against the best.

Every year this gets said and then we lose 4-5 guys for some reason and we end up with a class of 27....obviously it isn't going to be that high this year but I would be shocked if we didn't hit 20 commitments. Last year we were supposed to get like 21 and we ended up with 27. As you said, it's a long way until February. If we don't - good for Hoke I guess that means he's doing something right.
