I think that you will see a trend develop that schools that know they are going to replace their terrible ass coach will go ahead and pull the trigger mid-season. It just gives them more time to find the replacement without all the distractions.

I think that you will see a trend develop that schools that know they are going to replace their terrible ass coach will go ahead and pull the trigger mid-season. It just gives them more time to find the replacement without all the distractions.

So do they do a silent search through an agency to narrow down their man for a December offer, or do they contact their target now and have everything in place for December?

I'd think the latter would be more of a distraction for the coach to be.

I was think of distractions concerning the coach they were going to fire, and all the questions throughout the season about what might happen, and the uncertainty for the players. Bam, do it, it's done.

I would be talking to potential replacement coaches directly, now. Don't care if it's a distraction for the other team. Wouldn't hire them until after the season is over though.
