Furthermore, the following article backs up exactly what I'm trying to say. I said it in my own words before I even read this article, but I can clearly see that this guy is proposing the same reasoning behind the move to send down McGinn upon the return of Hartnell. It all makes sense to me.

There is a roster limit of 23 healthy players and in order for Tye McGinn to stay with the Flyers and play on one of the top two lines while everyone else is healthy, he'd have to replace someone who has a one-way contract and can't be sent down to the minors. Either that or you'd have to send a player with a two-way contract back to the minors and demote a scorer to a checking line or the bench, which makes no sense.

It doesn't matter. This team is going to score a ton of goals without him and that's why he went down. His role is filled on every line unless someone is on IR.
