They actually can in the last 2 minutes of the 4th/OT

have they changed what they can review since last year? I remember several plays last year where they would review who the ball touch last or something and during replay there would be some obvious foul not called...seems bad for game to have to show replay after replay and see a clear foul not called.

They got the call right but used replay where they aren't suppose to

Wrong -They already knew what the call was - they were just using the replay to determine how much time should be on the clock

Why run a catch and shoot play with 6 SECONDS to go? That was beyond stupid. Unless you come off that screen wide open you should not shoot

If I was Atlanta, I would have been planning to throw it to Korver who killed them with the threes or I would have set up a good play and went for the tie and overtime

I don't think so unfortunately.

Well then both announce teams were misinformed. They both were discussing whether the refs would call it a block or a charge

What a terrible last possession by the Hawks - they had six seconds, plenty of time to get the ball dribble, get to a spot and shoot - not having Lou Williams hurts - he could have taken that last shot, he could dribble + shoot - Kyle Korver's not the type of guy that you have attempting a game winner unless it is the perfect play(pass and shoot to open man) - Lakers mauled him there at the end, three guys there on him

Oh and btw I don't think that should have been a foul on Paul Millsap - his feet were outside the line and I thought he was in position and had stopped before Pau Gasol hit him

His foot was out of the restricted area and moving, but he moved into the lane really fast and his feet were not stationary - so a blocking foul was the right call regardless of who would have won that game. In this case the Lakers got super lucky

:agree: It was close and could have been called either way, but there is no way to they made the wrong call.

blind much? his second foot wasn't even touching the ground yet when contact was made...he was never set...good attempt but too late.

Yeah, they would just break a rule in the open.

Im surprised nobody on this thread figured out that the nba made this rule change this year.

It was the right call because Gasol was driving and the dude stepped in front of him and there was no way that Gasol could have stopped in time. That makes the call a blocking foul on Atlanta. Right call no matter who is playing. The rule has always been if his feet are stationary - then the call becomes a charge but the feet have to be not moving which is not allowed in the restricted area.

I again point out that the announcers say they were arguing about the time on the clock - nothing else

No - his feet was moving - they showed it on the replay over and over and that made it a blocking foul. If his feet had stopped and were stationary - then it would have been a charge on Gasol. But if Gasol had been in the restricted area, then Milsap would have been called for a foul no matter what happens because his feet has to be moving in the restricted area.

unrelated post but whats lakers fans thoughts on nick young? I like him ok think he shoots too much. not just shots just not smart shots...plenty of times I see him on the break and think he should take the guy to the rim...get a foul call or whatever...but he settles for a 20 foot jumper...haven't seen much of him before joining lakers so is this just the way he plays or?

That's nick young for you and that's one of the reason he is never able to stay on a team for more than 2 yrs

Nice win for the Lakers. Will be interesting to see how the team integrates itself around Kobe when he returns.
