Well, there's a lot of stuff in that piece that's hard to dispute...The Flames need a lot of guys to bounce back from disappointing years last season. The defense corps needs to get more involved in the offense, that's the biggest change that Brent Sutter and the coaching staff need to instill in the boys this season.

Sounds like Sutter and the boys have some serious work to do. Good luck.

Here in Philly I'm kind of curious to see how Lavy gets Hartnell and Carter pointing in the right direction this year. With Gagne gone, both need to step up their games for the full season.

You're right, and more specific, imo, is that Jaybo needs to be heard. leadership wise and production.

brent to me when i watched him nj, he seems like he is too willing to have at it with his players

the (rumored) problem between him and dion happened in jersey to a degree with elias (taking away his C before training camp even started) and then even his replacement in langenbrunner (but langs clashes heads w everyone it seems

then most notably rolston never giving him a chance after only playing 4 games before getting hurt.
i could understand that if everyone was playing better and i'm no rolston fan, but especially after sutter left nj there were too many stories coming out about the players displeasure with him

You think they'll be that high?

Ha Ha...How are things DW? I think they'll be higher mainly because the NW division is very mediocre (you have the Canucks and then a schmozzle, in my opinion).

I see the Flames this year as similar to the Wild.
- great goalie: Kipper / Backstrom
- light on offensive weapons: Iginla / Koivu
- pretty good top 4 defense
- three lines of plumbers.

however Flames got rid of Prust / McGratton, who accounted for 32 of the team's 74 fights last year. Ivanans may be busier than he realizes this year. Much like the Wild lost Boogie and Scott.

Cal's plumbers and d are stronger though.
