Dorsett trade was solid. Rangers win there.

You can't get too upset with Quenneville. At 30, unless the team makes a trade, I figured they would get somebody like this. I am actually shocked the Devils did not pick a defenseman.
Saying somebody does nothing exceptionally well, if you look at the glass half full outlook, it can mean he does nothing poorly. It means he is good at skating, shooting, passing, etc. They say he has good hockey IQ which is very underrated IMO.

Now if you look at the pick they had at 30, can we really complain?

As for Barbashev, he actually lacks in offensive skills. He is more like a kasparaitis the way he is described.
Some people wanted Lemieux, but I think this guy is better overall.

I also read Henriques original draft analysis. Nothing great. Lets hope this guy works out.

Devil fans, all you guys need are shootout specialists and you're a playoff team.

Cross reference these lists and you got your guy(s)…

2013-2014 - Regular Season - All Skaters - Shooters - Total Goals - NHL.com - Stats

NHL Free Agents

I think you guys are a lot better than the standings indicated. Just gotta win some shootouts.

Shootout specialists won't help. Our coach does not agree with the shootout rule so he never practices it. They have no chance against teams that regularly prepare and train for shootouts.

There is no need to practice the shootout. These guys have been playing hockey for their life hoe many breakaways have they had in their careers. Lift the puck!!!!

Well, With the likes of Clowe, Ruutu, Zubrus, etc., about 1 or 2 breakaways for their career.

I have to admit we have taken quite a hit I. The shoot put with the loss of parise giants even langenbrunner to an extent. We used to be almost automatic come the shoot out

See Lou always has a plan. The day he reveals it to the media is the day I start to worry.

Well the NJ_Cup suicide watch can be ended.

Good move. Volch is a bottom pair PK specialist now in his career. So much for all that complaining about 6 year contract. Ended up being a 4 year contract with some bonus money under the table afterwards.

I'm very excited to see what happens tomorrow now. I have a feeling Lou grabbed a few UFA and this was the best solution.

If Fayne walks, there's a good chance Salvador misses time this year. We'll likely see a starting 6 on D of Zidlicky/Gelinas/Greene/Merrill/Larsson and then Harrold or Severson rounding it out. That's not bad at all.

That is a pretty bad group. Good thing is Pete needs to fill in spots so he can't put all of them as healthy scratches anymore!!

Fayne has grown on me the last 2 seasons. Didnt like him at all when he first got here but he's solid. Word is Edmonton or the Rags are going to overpay for him so if thats the case then Im happy enough with our D to let him go.

Provided Lou goes out there and grabs two scoring forwards tomorrow.

Dont really care about the draft picks, I don't follow any prospects/farm team at all. All the write-ups and stats are useless once someone is called up anyway. So I can't comment on who they picked, but I don't get the second round pick on anther defensemen when the team seems to be very thin at wingers and deep on defense.

Really happy with the Volchenkov buy out. Someone made a point to point out that this is not a exactly a gm's decision, its the owners' decision. I don't care who the owners of a team are or how much money they have. They did not get to the position in life to own a sports franchise by blowing their money. And money is money. Nobody wants to waste it. So when they make the decision to buy out a player and pretty much waste 5.6 million of their own money, it is a VERY good sign that they are engaged with this team and want to find ways to make the team better. That's the most important decision of this offseason so far. It also puts us in a much better situation to sign some more offensive players that this team desperately needs.

The player I want is Vanek but it's unlikely he's coming here. I think Stastny ends up with the Blues and I don't think he's going to live up to the contract he gets.

I'm more interested in seeing some of the dead weight (Zubrus & Ruutu) being moved then trying to overpay to bring in a FA in a weak class this year. I don't see much value in anyone available. If anything, save the money and wait until next year.

Lock up Schneider, let the young guys play on D, give Josefson, Larsson and Boucher (if ready) a chance to play every game and see what happens. This not a team that is a few moves away from being a contender so save the money/cap room.
