CrawMac may save the season singlehandedly.

The pen gets credit for this too. Without them cleaning up the starters' messes we'd probably be like 18-37

I know its a bit late to notice this, but Bochy double switched Williamson out again today. Is Williamson not looking that good defensively?

That was outstanding FYWW work, with a small lead in Colorado.

Wow, they actually held on for a win at Coors Field and did not allow any runs in the last 7 innings.

How many of you thought, like me, that this was a loss after the first inning, and that Holland wouldn't make it out of the 3rd inning?

I will admit I had thought for sure that the Giants were about to get swept after 2nd innings. Glad that got the lead and made it stick.

And replace him with...

Only one of Holland, Blach, Sammy, Stratton and Suarez can be replaced by Bum. MAYBE another by Phalic (D-Rod).

You want Dutchboy to be the one? But what about Sammy’s injury?

I never wanted this clown on the team to begin with. He is the suck. No upside. I'd be ok with rotatating AAA pitchers til we find a couple who can go six.

I wasn't a fan of his pick up either and didn't want him on the team. However, he is currently outperforming everyone else healthy enough to be in the starting rotation. If we can get Bumgarner and Cueto back before the end of the month, I'd be fine with a rotation of Bumgarner, Cueto, Holland, Suarez and Stratton. I think Blach should be the odd man out. Of course, Samardzija will probably be back by then and he'll have to take a rotation spot, so bump Stratton. That will make the rotation worse, but, hey, Samardzija is a veteran that brings veteran presence!

Re: Shark -- don't you think that if he's healthy he's a solid #3? Two big ifs here, but IF 1. Cueto is back and healthy and 2. Shark is back and healthy the rotation sets up:
1. Bum
2. JC
3. Shark
4. Strat
5. Suarez

Holland to the bullpen as a long man.

Bullpen:
C - Strick
Setup - Smith, Watson, Melancon
Middle - Dyson, Johnson
Long - Holland

Minors - Beede, Blach, Gearrin, PJ, Moronta, DRod, Valdez, Osich, Okert, Gomez, Herb, Law

1) Gearrin ain’t going anywhere
2) I like Moronta better than Johnson
3) I think I like Blach as the long man better than Dutch boy

I agree with cal on his points. Additionally, I really doubt Samardzija is going to come back healthy, if he comes back quickly. He stated that he thinks he's dealing with the same issue that he had in spring training, which means he's been pitching through it the entire time. And all that it is going to take is a start skipped? I find that rather dubious. I get the feeling that there is something going on that he's not telling and that he's going to need to miss more than one start in order to get better.

Really? You don't see Gearrin getting sent down if he continues to struggle? Keep him up over Hollcrap?
I like Moronta better than PJ too, but no room for either if bully is healthy
Why Blach over Hollcrap? Both are lefties, but I think Blach has the option.

Unless Gearrin somehow got a 4th option year (I can never figure out how that is possible), he's not going to the minor leagues without being taken off the 40 man roster. He would have to be designated for assignment.

As LHG said, Gearrin can’t get “sent down”. He is either on the active roster, DL’d or DFA’d. And he seems to be one of the “chosen ones”, so I don’t see him getting DFA’d.

I am not certain Moronta hasn’t wiggled his way to the top of the 2nd group.

Strick
Smith
Watson
Melancon
Dyson
Gearrin

Moronta
Johnson
Rodriguez
Stratton/Blach/Holland

Of the secondary group, Holland is the only one without an option. But I don’t think he is above getting DFA’d. I think Moronta and one of the current starters get the spots, given perfect health and assuming an 8-man pen.
