I would add Willie Mays until age 36
Eh, Willie I think had a strong hold for the 3rd/4th spot tied with Ruth with either adding Ruth’s pitching. Mickey was the greatest of all time because he was a switch hitter.

Trout is already sandwiched between the two latest HOF inductees in career WAR.
If he sticks around long enough he might get into that rare "Split this career and it looks like two HoFers!" club.
He could have as much WAR as three HOFers (Lloyd Waner, Pockets Kelly, Rick Ferrell) by the end of the season.
Mantle is so mind blowing because he did most of that with a torn acl.Pretty amazing.
In Mays' next 9 seasons (1355 games) he hit .296 and 321 HR's so longevity is the only factor here, but even Mays wore down hitting 22,23 and 13 in his 16th, 17th and 18th seasons. He was just so durable, amazing considering how great of a fielder he was.
In Mantle's next 9 seasons (1155 games) he hit .284 and 256 HR's but he wasn't as healthy as Mays...he had a couple seasons and you could tell he was starting to wear down as well.
Trout just hit 45 HR's in a season he only played 134. If he can play 150+ games he might be able to have a couple 50+ seasons. If he can do this and stay healthy I thinkhe can hit 600 maybe even 700...just depends on when his body breaks down.
So far...Trout averages 39 HR's/season
Mantle and Mays averaged 36 HR's/season
A great player but not the GOAT.As of today, wRC+ 2018:
190 Trout
181 Betts
170 Martinez
wRC+, All time:
1 Ruth
2 Williams
3 Gehrig
4 Hornsby
5 Bonds
6 Trout
7 Mantle
8 Cobb
Let’s stop pretending we aren’t in the middle of watching the greatest player to ever step onto the diamond.
He’s doing it on a mediocre team, not on steroids, in an era where every race is invited to play, against multiple well-rested pitchers per game, and against guys consistently throwing 95+.
He’s top or next to the top in wRC+ every year. He’s a plus defender. He’s fast and smart on the basepaths.
Trout is the best baseball player ever.
Pretty amazing.
