Fangraphs has Trout's value two years ago at $45 million and last years at $52 million. Fangraphs uses WAR and RAR to calculate a players value. Trout's WAR over the last two years has been 10.0 and 10.4, they project over the next five years for his WAR to be 9.4, 10.0, 10.2, 10.2 and 10.3. Based on Trout's performance already along with the potential he has still to gain it is not inconceivable that the Angels could make Trout the first Player to make $500 million in once contract.

They'll have to insert a dollar into a slot in the bathroom for the sinks to turn on and a quarter for a paper towel.

The Angels will wait till he's in his mid-30's to give him a ten year deal.

I guess hypothetically he could be worth that much, but the market currently doesn't support such salary demands, not sure why the Angels would even consider it.

Not gonna happen. In fact, I think we may have plateaued over the last few years. As such, I think it will take many more years to reach the $ 50 mil per for anyone.

I did not mean to imply that the Angels are considering this contract, I am merely putting out their what a long term contract would look like when they do negotiate. Cano just got his money and he will be like 31 or 32 when the contract goes into effect. Over the last few years Cano has been worth around 30 mil a year but he could only get 24mil a year since he'll only be in his prime for 2/5ths of the contract. Trout is like 21 and is by far the best player in the game.

I understood, and still just choose to disagree. Not with the worth, but that he will get what you say he will.

We're about 30 years away from contracts this size.

Except that a big part of trouts game is his speed... teams dont like giving big/long contracts to speed guys in fear that they will lose the speed when they reach a certain age... Of course there are players like ellsbury that still get their deals, but it is just not as common...

Trout is of course much more than speed, but to get the absurdly large contract(better than cano) he may have to become a better hitter first...

Become a better hitter? You may want to watch an Angel game or two.

Dont get me wrong, he is an elite hitter already... But to get a contract that rivals cano's with length and money(he would deserve more), he might need to become more of a power hitter since the assumption may be that he will lose the speed...
