I'm becoming a big fan of Maloney. He asks good questions, makes sure he gets at the point and not let anyone wiggle off the hook, and I'm glad he got things back on track actually asking questions of the witnesses after a few reps used their time to just grandstand.

The Republicans' fixation on the Steele Dossier even though, 1) a pretty good chunk of it is actually accurate, 2) it's only a small reference in the Mueller Investigation anyway, and 3) it's not at all about what this hearing is about is super weird and jarring, even though I know why they're doing it.

The Val Demings line of questioning was also excellent, gave Dr. Hill an opportunity to show very clearly how withholding aid plays into Putin's hands, with a pretty compelling anecdote.

Schiff gave the Republicans so much room to play within and even a little outside of the rules, and they still cried foul the whole time about how he ran the hearings. They made it abundantly clear they weren't there to act in good faith. But they'll get the soundbites and short clips on Fox News that will please their base, and that's all they care about.

After his conduct at the hearings, I lament the additional trauma he likely piled onto the victims by shouting and tearing them down when they tried to bring their stories forward.

Also worth noting, cow-suer Devin Nunes has connections with the indicted Lev Parnas, whose crimes are tied closely to Rudy Giuliani's activities, and likely should not have been allowed to serve at all, much less in such a prominent role, in an impeachment inquiry where he himself might be implicated.

Today, Trump called Fox and Friends to push that conspiracy theory.

If he's not an active Russian agent, Trump's proved again and again he's an exploitable Russian asset. Get him out of office and keep him out, and take every collaborator and co-conspirator and enabler with him.

This all said, take your time and do it right. Find ways to undercut his damage in the meanwhile, but make sure you overturn every stone, get everyone involved in the scope of investigation, cut the whole cancer out so it doesn't get a chance to spread again. If that means waiting to move to trial until late 2020, just before his term would end anyway, so be it.
