This is where Thanos needs to use the time stone in order to go back about 72 years or so and make some changes.

And lest we forget the NDP position on that nation's government:

Yes, why stand with our democratic neighbour when we can stand with the guy whose tanks mow down protestors?

Barr should be impeached immediately. He lied to Congress, on top of making numerous statements more consistent with a political pawn than a steward of the law.

For some reason Democrats are reluctant to start impeachment proceedings on Trump because they're afraid of political backlash. Ah yes, the political backlash of... upholding the law?

Anyway, there shouldn't be concern over political backlash for impeaching Trump (I think the suggestion of complicity from not impeaching him is far more damaging than the attempt could ever be, personally), but there is even less over impeaching Barr. You have his lies under oath verified and on record. He broke the law. He's a shill. Impeach him today. Literally today.

All this waiting around and stalling and hoping for, I don't know, more information or whatever? It's pointless. And the longer they wait, the longer they give Trump and his cronies to get a cover story in order, grab increasing political power, and make themselves untouchable. Stop wasting time. Do something.

That's very idealistic though and not realistic.

Politics doesn't make sense. Borrowing from Neil deGrasse Tyson, politics is under no obligation to make sense to you. It's not grounded in the real world.

Knowing that there is 100% no way that you get a conviction of Trump in the Senate barring new evidence, what's the end game? The Dems are left taking their changes that they will be able to better spin the impeachment than the Rs in political ads. If they're right, there's the potential for huge gains. But if they're wrong, they could be back in the position of being in the minority in both houses and losing the White House. Again.

There's ample evidence supporting Trump's unfitness, which is all that's necessary for impeachment to result in removal from office, first of all. But secondly, what about the alternative, sitting on their hands for fear of it backfiring? At best, they look like cowards, or too lazy to carry out their constitutionally-prescribed duties. At worst, they look like they're in on it. They stand to lose a heck of a lot more from inaction, making themselves out to be lazy, incompetent, or corrupt.

Impeachment involves further investigation and testimony beyond what's public in the Mueller Report, and can cover a much broader range of potential infractions than the Special Counsel was appointed to investigate. The number of ongoing investigations, and the number of indictments--and convictions--to come out of the Special Counsel investigation and related probes in other jurisdictions, is enough to at least argue Trump is compromised, if not actively criminal. And that argument needs to be made at length, and publicly. Now.

Besides all of which, Congress doesn't have any responsibility to "politics." They have only responsibility to their constituents and their country. If they are unwilling to fulfill that obligation, I hope every last damn one of them loses their seat.

This is the same thing as climate change, too. Inaction is motivated entirely by political convenience. "But we'll lose funding and votes!" Shut up. Do your job. If there's a potential threat, you do something about it. That's why you're there.

One more thing--impeaching Barr at least is zero risk. There is actual explicit precedent for impeaching--and imprisoning--an AG who lies to Congress. Barr's lies are a matter of public record and can be readily verified. They've already waited too long to announce his impeachment. If Republicans refuse to honor impeachment on definitively-proved perjury by the AG on a major DOJ matter, where historical precedent already exists, they'll do more harm to themselves than the Democrats could by trying.

And I think that goes for impeaching Trump, too. Enough will be made public that the Republicans will look like power-grabbing, unAmerican, anti-Constitutional partisan hacks. Make them make that choice. Force their hand.
