Interesting signing.

I like it.
(Also leaves the Eagles without a TE since they also released Celek.)

Where did Ertz go?

Anyway, LOVE this signing. Trey Burton is an athletic TE that has been woefully under-used in Philly. At an average of $8 Million per season, I'd imagine we have more extensive plans for him...

Oops. Ertz is still there.
But with Ertz never playing a full season... and Celek pretty much in the same boat... can't believe they let Burton hit the market.

We didn’t have 8 million per for a back up TE... with that said he has the potential to be a great receiving TE. He deserved more playing time but was stuck in the 3rd TE spot cause Ertz is a star and Celek was our blocking TE. He’s a playmaker for sure and will be missed.

We overpaid big on this one. He may turn out to be worth it but right now it's a huge over pay. And at 8 mil he must be looked at as the starter. I want baby gronk starting. Don't get me wrong as I like the guy but 8 mil and taking away snaps from the young guy is not what I wanted. If he is a good player for us I'll get over it fast.

According to NFL.com,Trey burton was no.36 onf the top 101 freeagents:

36

Trey Burton

TE
Bears

Blocked by Zach Ertz for playing time, Burton excelled when Ertz was out with injury. Burton is the type of high-upside athletic "move" tight end that every team is looking for.

UPDATE: Burton agreed to terms with the Bears, the team announced. The deal is for four years and $32 million, Garafolo and Rapoport report.

Sounds good to me..............

There's an option to get out of the contract after 2 years for 18 mil. That's all that is guaranteed.

He was highly coveted. I don't think it was an overpay.

His snaps also shouldn't interfere with Shaheen. They're two different players.

agreed... sims also earned a roster bonus (I think it was $4M?) for being on the roster 3 days into the new league season. I just don't get it.
