On the flip side, if he doesn't play both ways, do you want to throw away your high pick on a DB?
That's really the dilemma - even if he does play both ways - how much is that worth ? I'm thinking to myself I'd take a shot, but not until the 3rd. Likely too late in some leagues, too early in others - just my take. ... think you have to assume he plays way more reps at DB than at WR. ..

You still need to make sure the site allows him points for both positions.

in baseball Ohtani very rarely gets points for both. And the league needs specific rules.
True, in my leagues, WRs get 1pt for tackles after INTs and IDPs get offensive stats if they play both sides, so that automatically elevates Hunter's value on my end
in my league is like SmokingMonkey
we have a point system & all players can score points from that point system.

So if Jamar Chase got a tackle after an INT he would score for that tackle.

If for some reason your player (in your starting line up) was the emergency kicker & kicked a FG he would get points for that FG.

Its been a while since i did IDP. But i just looked at PFF's top corners for 2023 (after week 18 of 2023) and compared the list to FantasyPros' DB scoring for 2023.

Not good. (1) Most top scoring IDP DB's are safeties. And only 5 corners crack the top 20 DBs. (2) Of the top 10 corners on PFF's list, the first name to show up in IDP scoring is Rasul Douglas. He is ranked 8th by PFF and ranked 31st just among DB. Meaning that he probably wasnt on anyone's fantasy squad.

If Hunter is gonna be elite as a corner, doesnt look like that translates well for fantasy IDP.
I have Douglass in Lions Dynasty.

His numbers were way down from the last three seasons. Prolly ends up a pre draft cut for me this summer.

I know many of us are in IDP dynasties or other leagues with one another and some don't really want to talk to heavy in strategies with opposing owners, but I'm tired of thinking about it and not discussing it with others who understand.

Travis Hunter is almost assuredly going to be drafted top 5-7, and could legit be primarily a WR or a DB, most likely will be doing both in the NFL, although it's anyone's guess as to which will be his primary spot but it's widely assumed DB is the best bet.

Most likely he ends up with Dual position eligibility as a DB/WR

You know he'll probably get 4-6 targets a game once he gets going, which may or may not seem like much, but for an IDP- an extra 5-6 points a week is huge when your generally talking about 15 as a high end expectation. And if he does catch fire for some reason, and end up being a key cog in a WR rotation, who knows?

So, do your IDP leagues score DB's who might catch passes? and if so, where do you draft this dude in a dynasty rookie draft? or a redraft?
So as a commissioner in a few IDP leagues, you can set that however you want. All you have to do is set it to where a player that is started in your IDP slot doesn't get offensive fantasy points and then it doesn't matter. Probably the fairest way to score it would be that he gets points for any touchdowns on either side of the ball but doesn't get a point per reception or the yardage points for offense, but that's only going to be if he plays a lot of snaps at wide receiver and I'm not so sure that's going to happen. If he's only playing 10 snaps a game on offense it wouldn't really be worth changing your scoring system over it. You could do the same thing with Taysom Hill at tight end, but it's a bigger problem there because other players at tight end also run the ball and could even throw the ball. The worst thing I remember is back when we did team quarterback on ESPN and since Taysom Hill was listed as a quarterback, if he caught a touchdown pass the Saints TQB got a passing and a receiving touchdown each time. Needless to say that was the last year we ever used team quarterback.
