John Buck was a late scratch from the lineup tonight vs. SD and is on his way back to NY after getting word earlier this afternoon his wife was finally going into labor ( the baby was due on Aug. 1st.)...but the baby(a boy) and Mrs. Buck are doing fine. Buck will more than likely remain in NY while the Mets finish the road trip on Monday in Minn.

Anthony Recker will start tonight instead. Hopefully we'll see T.d'A. behind the dish /at the plate at some point this weekend.

Congrats to the Bucks.

Let's Go Mets !!!!

Sweet victory tonight.. in more ways than one.

Ike actually went yard (#7)....so did Byrd(19) and Murph(10)......and Niese was nice, fanning 9 thru 6 inn. mixing his pitches well and hitting the corners ....giving up 1 run (solo HR)... walking just 1, and giving up 6 hits.
But the surprise of the night was seeing LaTroy Hawkins take the mound in the 9th and earning his 4th save ...just 2 days after an unfortunate come backer caught him square in the nads in L.A.

* Wilmer Flores ran before the game and felt fine, so there's a good chance he's in the lineup on Saturday.

Glad to see Niese back and performing well. Good news on Flores. Can't wait to see D'Arnaud get some at bats against major league pitching.

Nice win today to finish the trip....Gee was terrific, Byrd smacked his 20th HR...Lagares and Flores continue to shine ....but Ike still seems lost at the plate unfortunately. They might want to consider going in a different direction at 1B next season. I can't believe TC still has him hitting cleanup regularly....smh

Travis d'Arnaud is still looking for his 1st big league hit. He should get it this week at home.
Backup catcher Anthony Recker was sent to AAA Las Vegas.

He may get offered a big contract elsewhere but I would love to have Byrd back year even as a bench player. He's a veteran presence, seems to have a good head on his shoulders, can still produce and has always been a solid pinch hitter. Wouldn't mind having him DH for interleague games.

Ike, what are we going to do with you Ike?

Ike Davis just told you to go suck a lemon...!

Unless he suddenly gets hot, we still can't have him batting cleanup......on most teams he'd be 6th-7th or 8th.

He had a decent game tonight...hopefully there's lots more of that for the next 6 weeks.
