He needed kicking. Probably made him smarter. He's just lucky it wasn't Jad Dean behind that foot. South Carolina instigated that throughout the game. Holtz's career had been thoroughly ruined and he had lost control of that team. They congregated at the bottom of the hill and pushed and spat on Clemson players when they came down the hill. They delivered cheap, dirty shots throughout the game. Finally, after a valid hit on their QB, they started swinging and the brawl happened. Clemson can't help that South Carolina's players could start a fight but couldn't finish it.

That said, while South Carolina fans suck, the trashiest team is NC State. It's hilarious that this third rate school tries to lump themselves in with Duke and UNC to create the so-called "Research triangle." Their coach is by far the trashiest in football other than Freeze. They've had assistant coaches attack players and done nothing about it (at least Ohio State fired Woody Hayes). They openly state that one of their goals is to injury other team's players. They steal and whine about everything. They're the worst team in America and their fans aren't any better. It would actually be a rivalry if they weren't trash at football (I think Clemson has won 14 of the last 15).
