I've said on countless occasions that his angles to the football were horrible and an extremely bad trait for a safety.
Maybe corner fits his skill set better.

BTB Mailbag: Will a smaller defensive line compromise the run defense and Sean Lee?

With Lee we will be good against the run with any DL we end up putting out there. Concern is what happens if Lee is hurt again. I get that it is meant to keep Lee healthier, but part of me wants them to put him back at the Mike. I just think LVE's skill set works better on the weak side and Lee is a stud anywhere. But, with health I expect good LB play this year regardless of who lines up where. I'm still looking for production from Joe Thomas too. Good cover LBer and serviceable on early downs.

Jones will be a very good corner for us. All he ever needed was to be utilized correctly. He spent a lot of time in the box for God knows what reason. He is a horrible in the box safety, it's not his thing. He was one of the best safeties in the league at covering TEs and at times the slot receiver even and was seldom given the chance to play single high. Thankfully they seem to be using Woods correctly.

First day of pads review. Once the pads come on is when it starts to matter IMO. I could care less what these guys do before that which is why I'm not a big combine guy. Football is played in pads, not shorts and tees:

I think that last DB spot is going to be an absolute dog fight. I still am high on Marquez White and Duke Thomas as being worthy of that spot. Don't know much about Donovan Olumba to have an opinion on him

Yea, he takes bad angles like heath. Hope BJ is a better corner.

I don't believe anyone said Jones sucks or should be cut. Let's not act like the criticisms of his game, made by many, were not valid.

Agreed.

I think Jones has a real shot to improve and become the impact player we all thought he could be. He's going to be in a more limited, but more valuable, role this year - more limited in the sense he will have less responsibilities. I think allowing him to focus on just one role instead of two or three is going to be good for him. Less is more.

I would hope that they would put the best on the field. I like Lewis a ton and also realized that this time last year I said the same about Brown.

I don't think there is any question that Lewis will play over Brown if he outplays him. I'm expecting Lewis to be one of the top 3 CBs this year

Most interesting part about the "fight" was that within 30 seconds they were already lined up for second play, ran the play, both went down and both got up to do it again without issue

As long as actual punches are not thrown, I love to see fire. Makes for better players if they are both going after it again and again.

As far as Lewis starting- y’all are meaning as the slot corner right? I’m assuming Jones and Awuzie will be the top 2. Awuzie has changed his number to 24 also.
