Don Maloney the GM of the Coyotes & another Yotes scout have been at the past two Islanders games.

Last night along with Maloney scouts from San Jose, Carolina, Nashville, Dallas & Philly were in attendance.

Word is Snow is looking to make a deal. Any ideas what as to what the other teams could possibly want?

From the looks of the Isles record, I'm guessing any vet is up for grabs outside of Streit and Rolo.

With Streit done for the year there's no chance he's traded. Roloson could be a piece involved in a trade. The Islanders have three goalies playing in Bridgeport (AHL).

The following players could be yours of course I don't really know why any team would give up much for them.

Wisniewski
Moulson
Frans Neilson C
Blake Comeau C
Radek Martinek D He's healthy, AT THE MOMENT. He could get a HANGNAIL packing his bags.

Zenon Konopka C Leads the league in penalty minutes. Good on faceoffs.
Mark Eaton D
Josh Bailey It would obviously be a big multiplayer deal if he's involved.
Trent Hunter TAKE HIM PLEASE!!
Bruno Gervais ANYONE WANT A HUMAN PYLON?

That's kind of what I'm getting at. The Islanders are rebuilding, and they don't have many valuable veteran pieces. They aren't trading Streit because they wouldn't get good value for him, either way he's a steal when he's healthy. I don't think they would trade Rolo, EVERY team in the league needs some stability in net. The rest... I don't think it's worth it to Snow to trade, or, he wouldn't get jack in return.

It will be interesting because many teams would like to cut salary & the Isles have the cap space. Snow said earlier this week there aren't any salary constraints. If he wants to make some trades he can. The Isles thought process is they will trade assets to improve them now & in the future. If the deal doesn't help them in both cases it won't happen.

They won't take a high salary guy who's at the end of his career.

If I were Snow I would be looking at other team's salary albatrosses. Last summer the Bruins couldn't give Thomas away, and they are now in major cap trouble (which they saw coming). Only thing is, Thomas is playing lights out... Isles could have nabbed him on the cheap last summer and would now have a pretty damn good goalie.

Maybe Snow will start working the phones offering to help take other team's salary problems, for a small fee of course.

I'm not sure I see the reason for wanting to trade guys like Moulson, Comeau, and Wiz. They are solid, youngish players and they aren't keeping roster spots from anyone. What are the odds they trade Comeau and draft someone better with the third round pick that comes back?

Well in Wisniewski & Moulson's cases they will be UFA's at the end of the year. What possible reason would they have to resign? I just don't see either of them back next year.

I know the Sharks have interest in Wisniewski. They were rumored to have made a pitch for him this last offseason before he was traded to the Islanders but Murray wasn't going to move him within the division.

Wiz makes 3.25 this year. Take about 900,000 off & that's about what he's owed now.

Any idea as to what the Sharks would offer? Obviously the Isles would have to take some salary back. Is Setoguchi available?

Most San Jose fans feel that he will be available if he isn't already. Cap wise Wiz for Seto doesn't work for the Sharks if they are the only salaries being moved. Sharks would probably want to include Huskins and look to get a conditional pick in return dependent on Wiz re-signing with San Jose.

How's the Sharks goaltending situation? Could there be interest in Roloson? There's only a 250,000 difference in salaries betewn Roli & Niemi.

Sharks are overstocked with goalies. Currently on the roster they have Niitymaki who's been very good so far this year and Niemi who started off poorly but has been better his last two or three starts. They shipped Thomas Greiss, who's a capable back up at the NHL level, to Europe to make room for Niemi. Sharks also have Alex Stalock in Worcester whom the organization believes is NHL ready should either Niitymaki or Niemi get injured.

Stalock went to Minnesota I think. He was good their. All I know is something has to be done. I said before the season started after Streit was injured that the season was over. Now after 13 straight losses it officially is as far as I'm concerned.

Not likely to see the devils trade within the division but after reading Lou lams 20 game review a coaching change or trade to try and shake up the team seems very possible

They aren't looking to make a trade. They just know that the Islanders are a train wreck, and everyone knows it's impossible to stop watching a train wreck.

It's kinda funny to see this topic now, but earlier today I was reading how unlikely it is that Tavares would resign with the Isles. I would find it pretty comical if the Isles were trying to ship him out to a team in need of another top 6 forward and take back say a bad cap hit(for a year or 2) and a few draft picks plus a good prospect.

Say for example(not that this would happen) but the Isle send Tavarse plus a 4th or 5th rounder to say the Rag for Redden a 1st and 2nd and decent famr system player... I'm using this example more beacuse I know the bad contracts in the the division.

Now trading the guy who's selling most of the Isles season tickets would be a disaster to most Isles fans but I think Snow is looking more at the huge picture of rebuilding this franchise into a contender at some point and knowing their low chance to resign their "superstar" he is going to look to shop him sooner or later. Trading the kid now may being doing him a favor in all honesty.
