Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Yankees are among the teams asking about Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker.
The Mariners and Yankees have gotten together on several trades in recent years and they could make sense again as New York searches for starting pitching depth in the wake of James Paxton's flexor strain. The 28-year-old Walker made just four appearances between 2018-2019, but he's impressed so far this year with a 4.00 ERA and 25/8 K/BB ratio in 27 innings across five starts. He's due to be a free agent this offseason and figures to be one of the more attractive rental pitchers on the trade market leading up to August 31.

According to MLB.com's Jon Morosi, the Blue Jays are eyeing Pirates right-handers Trevor Williams and Chad Kuhl as possible trade targets.
Nate Pearson, Matt Shoemaker, and Trent Thornton are all currently on the injured list for the Jays, and they're going to need better pitching depth to emerge as a realistic postseason contender down the stretch. Williams, 28, holds a 3.70 ERA and 23/8 K/BB ratio through 24 1/3 innings (five starts) this season for Pittsburgh. Kuhl, meanwhile, has posted a 2.84 ERA and 19/7 K/BB ratio in three starts and two relief appearances covering 19 innings. The rescheduled August 31 trade deadline is next Monday at 4 p.m. ET.

Brantly has been added to the Yankees' player pool and will head to their alternate training site in Moosic, Pennsylvania. The 31-year-old catcher is a career .228/.292/.330 hitter in 127 major league games.

Rays acquired OF Brett Phillips from the Royals for SS Lucius Fox.
Phillips at one point ranked as a top-100 prospect in all of baseball, but the 26-year-old holds a rough .205/.282/.344 career batting line with nine home runs and 12 stolen bases in 136 games (358 plate appearances) at the major league level. Maybe the Rays can work some of their organizational magic and revitalize him. He certainly has the tools

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the White Sox have acquired Jarrod Dyson from the Pirates in exchange for international bonus pool money.
The White Sox' outfield is a poor one defensively, so Dyson makes sense as a late-game defensive replacement/pinch-runner, especially with expanded rosters. He had been replaced by Cole Tucker as the Pirates' starting center fielder and Pittsburgh also just picked up Anthony Alford, as well

Padres acquired RHP Trevor Rosenthal from the Royals for OF Edward Olivares and a player to be named later.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed a career resurgence with the Royals this season, registering a 3.29 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21/7 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings while recording seven saves as the team's closer. He'll join a Padres' late-inning mix that includes Drew Pomeranz and Emilio Pagan also vying for save chances.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that the Braves are close to acquiring Tommy Milone from the Orioles.
The Orioles will receive two players to be named later in the deal, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Milone has been good this season with a 3.99 ERA and surprising 31/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings covering six starts. He'll provide depth to a Braves rotation that's been hit hard by injury, but it's hard to imagine Atlanta is done adding pitching help.
