I have seen this floating around ESPN for a bit

Stafford for a 1st(Say Jags or Dolphins).

I really like it, The team that takes Stafford only takes a cap hit of 18-19 million for the remainder of his contract, which is inline for what he is worth, and get an upgrade at the QB spot.

If it is pre 6/1 Lions only take a 500k cap hit on top of what they would pay Stafford that year and then they are free and clear. Post 6/1 they save 19.5 this year and 11.5 the next year.

I would prefer the pre 6/1 and be done with it. Does this not help both teams out?

I'd rather see what the new OC can do before we go QB huntin'. I think this is the 1st real OC we've had since Linehan.

I don't think the defense is close to being successful. At this point I would rather reset on QB and use the saved money to rebuild the talent across the board. Make it a 2020 pick and trade before 6/1. Use the very high pick we will have in 2020 on a QB and use the Jags pick to add value elsewhere.

This is the first year that I do not believe that Stafford is a QB that can take us past the wildcard, not when you are spending 30 million on him.

Not ready to give up on Staff yet. I hear year 11 is when the QB really matures.:heh:

I think Stafford is good enough if you have a good team. Lions just don't, I feel like that is the best way to reset

The Only trades I want to see forthcoming is on day 1 of the draft.

Once the top 4 blue-chip players are gone (Bosa, J. Allen, Q. Williams and more than likely R. Gary because he fits the MP type player) then he might as well trade down as often as possible into the 20's because staying at #8 after those four are gone doesn't provide much if any value compared to what he could get making multiple trade downs. imo

At that point in the mid 20's a 1st round TE, looking at you Hockenson, makes some sense. There will still be many defensive players that could provide as much value in the mid 20's than that of the value left at #8 through the teens.

I'm not an offense first guy under normal circumstances, however, I could get on board with multiple extra 3rd round picks and the possibility of solidifying the TE position for the next 4-5 years or any of the defensive players still available.
