You can break down draft picks after the fact constantly. I agree with the frustration of picks. Just don't agree you should be able to make these statements later unless you stood on your head at draft time about said picks...Did ya? I don't remember?

I was livid when the Lions drafted Titus Young and I was at a loss for words when we basically drafted the same WR, except this one coming off a major knee surgery.

I hated the Titus Young pick (I said repeatedly if they were going to draft a WR, they should have went with Torrey Smith, who was taller, faster and can jump out of the gym), but after he didn't have any problems on or off the field his rookie season -- I actually put up a post and said I was wrong about Titus Young. We all know what happened after that.

I was just lost on why they took Ryan Broyles. My only guess is -- they knew Titus Young was off his rocker and they were trying to find a replacement, because Broyles and Young are basically the same WR. I would absolutely LOVE to be wrong about Broyles, but he has now had major knee surgery on both legs in back to back years.

I can tell you how far I went to put my faith in Broyles today. I convinced myself, if there was ever a game where Ryan Broyles was going to put up some nice numbers, it was today. No Nate Burleson, no Calvin Johnson. I even picked up Broyles off the waiver wire and started him on one of my fantasy teams.

Either Stafford has something against Broyles, or he is not getting open. It isn't as if Detroit had a ton of options today, yet he still could only manage 2 catches.

I guess I don't have your confidence in Staff going through his progressions, making proper reads and finding the open receiver. I remain underwhelmed by our QB's play this season.

If Ryan Broyles was getting open consistently -- he would be option #1 for Stafford, especially in today's game.

If you want to say Stafford's accuracy has been off at times -- I would agree. Questioning whether he is going through his progressions when he completed at least 2 passes to EIGHT different players today is absolute non-sense.

If he's not option one, or a check down guy, he's not going to get looks from Staff.

First off, this is a ridiculous post Swarm, but oh well......

Secondly, the Lions management should be embarrassed with the product they've assembled behind Calvin. All the chances the Lions have had to find a quality WR and they still don't have one is ridiculous. Broyles? He's a wash and never should've been drafted that high by the Lions. Durham? Slow and inconsistent. The Lions actually had him as the #1 target yesterday. Edwards? Small and needs more time-time in which the team doesn't have. Nate? He's good in the slot to say the least, but he's still not a very good outside WR.

How will the team correct this huge problem? My opinion? Sacrifice something or take a chance on signing someone like T.O or Chad. I'd be after Randle from the Giants at this time. I don't like a lot of the other options out there except maybe, Gordon but that's not happening.

 Johnson is the best WR in the world. Coming from a Packers fan.

Smit-tay, this statement right here basically says that all Stafford has is Bush and CJ. LMAO. I know where you're going with it though: you think Stafford only looks for them. I beg to differ.

He looks for his #1 option, then he checks down. He didn't see open guys over the middle several times yesterday. As their route wasnt the #1 option on that particular play, and they weren't within two yards either way of the line as check down options. His quick release times and lack of sacks (until yesterday)aren't a product of CJ or Bush. (Good Quarterbacks can make their receiving options better just as good receiving options can make a quarterback better) He's not overly patient in the pocket, doesn't roll out and seldom goes with a pump fake to help get his receivers open. Part of this is scheme, part is Staff, part is talent around him, I suppose. But Im not willing to lump Broyles in as a bust because he's not getting a lot of targets. (I'm also not trying to say Staff should force guys into the mix. But small receivers who made a name for finding soft spots in zones and got open when coverage broke down need a little time to find their stride)

:agree:

As I always do I was flipping through the stations yesterday and stopped at Broncs/Boys when Denver was on about the Dallas 12 yard line. I watched Manning drop back and look at #1 (covered), head turned and looked at #2 (covered), head snapped again to look at #3 (covered), and then immediately dump it right to check down RB who took it to the 3 yard line. Stafford's progressions run through #1 target then check down. That's it.

What did we find out yesterday? In 5 drafts, Martin Mayhew has failed to put together a winning football team. Without our Millen pick, this team is an 0-16 squad.

This is just as stupid as the peyton manning sucks thread. Was yesterdays game enough of an example to show you how important CJ is to the lions offense?

No I would rather he not be injured after only 4 weeks of football. And players play injured all the time.

Yeah maybe if this was a playoff game he might play. It was a regular season game and oh the lons lost on the road in gb. They werent going to win anyhow and they are still in first place. Oh and CJ doesnt miss many games either. I can only hope you were drunk when you posted this nonsense.

People say Manning doesn't suck don't pay attention to football after week 16.

Was yesterdays game enough of an example to show you how important it is to have more than ONE fucking player on our team who is good?

The thread isn't even that serious, but I raised an obvious point. No Calvin = No winning. It's not a good thing that this is a one player team. Even if he is the best at his position.

Thats not what you said, lol. You said trade cj because hes an overpaid decoy. Now you are just backpedaling.

I don't drink. It's bad for you. And I was only half serious. Just seriously pissed off at how helpless and hopeless this team is.

I have a good sense of humor. You're just taking it too seriously. But something has to give. Defenses take him out of games easily, and when he doesn't play, we have 0% chance of winning. Is it him or the coaching? You see Dez Bryant play the past 2 years? That's how you play WR in the NFL.

That's the thing; Manning has "options" and a stellar line. Lets not suggest that Staff can't do this because he can. Staff is far from the reason why nobody else is stepping up.

Overpaid decoy, always hurt (if not injured like today), can't break tackles, and gets taken out of games too easily. He's no good to us if he can't even fucking play week 5! Trade him while we still can. Sick of this shit.

Trade Stafford, Suh, Fairley, and Bush too. We ought to be able to get a fourth-rounder for each of them!
