So the BBC has elected to not renew Clarkson's contract for Top Gear. Essentially firing him and putting the show's future in limbo. Hammond and May also have expiring contracts and have indicated they would not do the show without Clarkson. Top Gear as know it is no more.

I can understand the BBC's stance on this. They were damned if they do and damned if they didn't. Sucks though, I love that show.

Rumors circulating that Clarkson (and possibly Hammond and May) are fielding a possible rebirth as a NetFlix exclusive.

Sucks if you're the producer that got beat up though. Not only are you know known worldwide as the guy Clarkson punched, and indirectly how he was fired, but who knows how long you'll even have a job if Hammond and May decide to leave.

Yeah, this was certainly not the first time he put himself in hot water. Still, I enjoyed watching that archaic old nob present the show. The chemistry between the trio is what made it so entertaining and Clarkson was definitely the driving force.

Agreed. But guys like Clarkson who supports the UK military, conservative by UK standards and vocal about it, and doesn't have a politically correct filter are not going to get along with the BBC who is one of the biggest liberal propaganda agencies on the planet. It was only a matter of time something like this went down with him and the BBC. Too bad. It was one of the only things worth watching on tv.

The show is over for all three of them. BBC will probably try to launch a new version of it, but it would take a whole lot of magic to recapture what they had with that cast.

"In the wake of Jeremy Clarkson's firing there has been much speculation as to what will happen to Top Gear. A source close to one BBC executive has confirmed that the network has wasted no time in searching for Clarkson's replacement. Although no official statement has been made by BBC, several reports indicated that Bob Saget is the top candidate to be Clarkson's successor. Saget, the star of critically acclaimed television comedies Full House and How I Met Your Mother, would be the first American to co-host the popular British show. While the BBC's interest in Saget may come as a shock to die-hard fans of Top Gear, it should be no surprise to anybody familiar with Saget and his work. The TV star and author's unique comedic genius would be certain to compliment the light-hearted nature of the program. And although some may question his knowledge of automobiles, Saget himself is actually a very serious auto-enthusiast, having once finger-banged Bea Arthur in the back seat of a '75 AMC Gremlin.

If BBC does go ahead with the Saget hire, current Top Gear co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond are expected to resign. Many have speculated that if this does occur BBC would attempt to hire Dave Coulier and John Stamos to co-host with Saget, thus reuniting one of the most hilarious comedic trios in television history. That's part of what makes the show so great though. His enormous douchieness against Hammond and May's more reasonable personalities.
