14 points isn't really "literally squeaking by," especially when we were up by 21 with a couple minutes left. USC just started late, like Bama did against Florida, or like OU against WVU.
As for Vandy being "one of the worst sec teams in recent history," they had consecutive 9-win seasons coming into this year. Best run in its history.
I'll agree UGA is not worthy of its position.
A&M's win over USC is solid, given USC has a couple of good wins (UGA and ECU, ECU being underrated because they're not a traditional power. They were 10-3 last year and knocked off VT this season and crushed UNC. Not too bad.).
WVU vs. USC would be interesting, but I don't think WVU is any more consistent than we are. It would be a pickem.

Stop right there. Temple whipped Vandy with ease, while SCAR struggled. Don't pimp out Vandy :L

Not saying they're great, just responding to the flawed analysis of them as "worst sec team in recent history."
And USC didn't really struggle. We gave up a couple TDs early, but then were leading by halftime and kept expanding the lead despite giving up a couple big plays. Like I said, we were up 21 with under 2 minutes. Not a struggle in my book, especially given that 2 of their TDs were on kick returns. That sucks for us, of course, but that shit happens and without that it would have officially been a beatdown.

Fine, then don't characterize back-to-back 9 win seasons with the Temple game.

We're getting ready to move. Wifezilla is being transferred to a new location. Hays, Kansas. We'll be living east of there about 20 miles or so. We moved my boat, fishing gear and about half of my tools yesterday.

I hate moving.

TomHusker was in a, ahem, "mood", the past couple of days also.

So far, he has lived in Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas and he loved fishing Lake of the Ozarks is what I have learned over the years.

Also Bama had more trouble with WVU on a neutral field than Oklahoma had with West Virginia in West Virginia

Based on what?

Alabama outgained West Virginia by 140 yards

Oklahoma was outgained by 3 yards by WVU

Take away the kickoff return touchdowns by WVU in the Alabama game and Oklahoma in their game and the scores would more accurately reflect the flow of the game.

Oklahoma was still in a dogfight until the end of the 3rd quarter.

Oklahoma's first 5 possessions were 4 punts and 1 field goal.

Alabama's were 1 field goal, 2 touchdowns and a punt.

I don't think A&M is a top 4 team right now. Next year they will be pretty good but some people need to tap the brakes. Defense is still very young.

Always my favorite ridiculous argument.

If you ignore the things that dramatically affect the flow of the game, the flow of the game would look totally different!

Way to cherry pick the argument...

You probably think Notre Dame was starting to make a comeback in the title game too...if only there had been one more quarter...

Did I mention Notre Dame? I don't remember mentioning Notre Dame. What I said is the argument that starts with "If you ignore . . ." is ridiculous. Because it is ridiculous. But please, feel free to deflect the argument to a new topic.

Are you saying Bama as not in a dogfight with WVU?

If you take away all the points WVU scored, Bama rolled the Mountaineers.

That's all he's saying.

I was thinking it was SEC math
A 10 point win on a neutral field > A 12 point win at their house.

Bottom line is WVU is not a bad team and both OU and Bama had to gut out a hard fought victory.

If I was one to "cherry pick" the argument I would say that OU gave up a "garbage time" touchdown that made the score look a lot closer that it actually was. And OU just ran the ball on their last two possession just burning the clock. The score could have easily been 45-27 or 52- 33 if OU wanted to run it up.

What's so good about Georgia? All they did is beat a crappy Clemson team who couldn't even beat FSU even though FSU did everything in their power to hand them the game?

Oregon has a better win than any of those teams

Certainly agree with that, however, as good as Oregon plays, there are some issues on defense that might be a problem; especially with a ball control team with a big offensive line.
