I'm surprised Milk hasn't posted how overrated Clemente was. Brian Giles had a nice career but this one seems like a runaway...

Amazing how much better Clemente was in his 30's than his 20's. Up until, well, you know... :(

Steroids or not Giles is the better player. He had a .400 OBP. And averaged over 100 walks per 162 games.

All Clemente was was a good defender. And he wasn't special at that. Any player who doesn't hit for power and does not walk is not a good offense bat. Even if they hit over 300.

Giles is the clear choice. Don't hate steroids just take em!

Well they also played in totally different eras...Clemente's career OPS+ is 130, compared to Giles at 136, so offensively, it's pretty close, and that's before you take into account Giles had a shorter career by about 600 games.

And I'd say you're severely underrating Clemente's defense...his career FRAA is +205, which is historically great.

You're a Pirates fan. You should know if Roberto hadn't died tragically he'd be just another average baseball player. Brian Giles was above average.

^To really think Giles was above average and Clemente wasn't is just absurd it is not worth arguing about.

Giles 4 best WAR years: 6.6, 6.4, 5.3 and 5.3 and this was while he was in Pittsburgh. After that his value dropped.
Clemente: 8.9, 8.2, 8.1 and 7.5.
