So 858 of 1561 is roughly 55% of VMart's games at catcher. I don't think he has much of a chance against Piazza even without this going against him.

just a wrong competetion for Vmart... He is a great offensive bat, but when you do nothing defensively, you can only be compared offensively.... And he loses at that too...

Especially when Piazza can boast that the majority of his career was actually behind the plate. V-Mart could finish with more games at 1B/DH than at catcher by the time he retires.

edit: or not, considering how bad V-Mart's been this year. He probably doesn't have much left in the tank in this point.

Roughly 55% of VMart's game have been at catcher, but that number is going down everyday. When I redo this next year, I think I will mix guys like VMart who have no real position with the pure DHs in their own Cat.

What will you do with multi-positional guys like Biggio, Yount, Rose, Carew, etc?

I am thinking for the next one adding two new Cats..... pitchers and DH/Multi. Then only doing players that entire career was within the last 50 years, so anybody with games before 1966 is gone. Just haven't figured what cutoff I want to use for Multi. 50% 60% 67% of games at a position makes them eligible?

As I said in the beginning Cal, I don't care who wins. It was about getting some baseball discussions going on these boards, other than my old CBS coposters Daily. Which is more about trash talk than Baseball.

A DH/multi category is probably the best way to handle it, but everyone will be voting on something different, so what will actually be accomplished? Defense is so hard to quantify, that the DHs will walk in the category because defense will essentially be ignored.

Like I said, though, I am not sure there is a better solution, so have it.
