Imho…

Pedro
Pujols
Foxx
Young
Griffey

Pujols and Foxx are almost identical. Hard to decide between the two. Ask me again in 5 mins and I may have them swapped.

The other 3 slots are pretty solid, I think.

It is still slightly early for Griffey to make it to the runoffs, but I think he is getting really close at this point.

but i will also admit, that i had an epiphany yesterday...

i never liked WAR#s in the first place, i do use it a lot for this, just because i am too lazy to make my own stats...

but i realized something pretty big, WAR answers who is most VALUABLE... it does not answer who is best...

WAR7 is essentially a tie.

WAR goes to Pujols

Accolades go to Pujols

OPS+ Buckets goes to Foxx

Pujols played a lot of DH, so he is DQ’d

What’s the difference?

What’s the difference?

WAR is too focused on position, we all know that it is different to be a SS than a DH, but that difference is on defense, not offense... being an all inclusive stat will always be dependent on the creators weights of a category.. and how some are measured...

defense will always be harder to calculate and be more subjective... and position bonus is even worse...

I really wish oWAR was free of position bonus, so we could really see the difference... i do wish oWAR+dWAR=WAR...

Looks people have forgotten that Griffey just doesn’t belong at this level…

Ken Griffey Jr (CF) 1989 - 2010

1 MVP, 4 top 5 MVP, 2 top 10 MVP, 3 additional seasons with MVP votes, 13 ASG, 10 GG, 7 SS

83.8, 54.0

Bold: RBI - 1, HR - 4, R - 1, TB - 2

OPS+ buckets

180 - 0
160 - 3
140 - 5
120 - 4

By the numbers, Griffey should be fetching these guys’ bats and running their lunch orders.

Griffey was also the best defender on this list and it's not even close.
