It looked like he gassed it to get around him and lost traction because of the dirt. Kevin Ward shouldn't have been walking like that on a wet track . I think Tony Stewart's legal team will argue that in his defense. Still tho it seems as if Stewart does try to clip Ward on the track. I really have no idea what was going thru either of their minds when they did what they did.

Hard to tell from the video. The kid shouldn't have been out in the middle of the track like that. It's going to be hard to demonstrate intent on Stewart's behalf. If he's smart (and his lawyers are smart) he's going to say he was just trying to get clear of the situation.

I think it was done in anger at him, he was going to drive by even if he didn't hit the gas. I don't see how that trying to get away defense is going to hold. You can hear him get on the gas when he gets up on him, and he was already moving at decent speed.

Do any of you really believe he done it trying to get away?

I don't believe Tony was trying to kill or even hit the guy. But Tony was deliberate in his careless actions that resulted in that, which I believe is manslaughter if I understand that correctly.
