Solution to our goalie being terrible: make the other goalie do all the work.

Stars:

1. Pavelec. Oh boy did he deserve this game. Stopped 50 shots. Ridiculous.
2. JVR - really, REALLY came out strong in the third and overtime. Oh mercy.
3. Giroux - 1G, 1A, 10 SOG, and aside from a few bad giveaways played really well.

Goats:
1. Bryzgalov
2. Bryzgalov
3. Our PK.

Tonight:
1. DB
2. Bryz
3. Jake

seriously??? I mean Jake was good all game but the other 2, really?

Stars

1.Giroux-Hartnell-Simmonds line(can't just take 1 of em): They were amazing and the biggest reason we won this game. They set the offensive pace and kept generating energy when the team could have deflated.

2. JVR: The man was on a mission tonight he had 7 shots and I think 6 scoring chances. I think during his "concussion" downtime that he had some sort of minor surgery to fix whatever his problem was before, he stride looked afferent and he was up on his skates a lot more.

3. Schenn- He keeps looking better and better, hell he even had a save tonight. He's much better defensively then I first realized and he was hitting everything he could tonight.

Goats

1. Bryz: He's gotta start coming up with some of these. I realize some were tough screens or deflected, but proper positioning still puts you in the way of the puck.

2. Read & Couturier: It was their PP that gave up 2 of the goals and the breakdowns started up top. They were both good 5 on 5 but have to get back to their earlier season form on the PK or be replaced on that unit.

3. The refs- They didn't cost us the game, but I still can't get over the inconsistentcy not only from game to game, but shift to shift with these guys. They let blatant high sticks go(both ways), but fall phantom hooking penalties, or don't go cross checks after the whistle & how was that not a fight???

He posted that list before the game. It was a wish list.

Oh ok, cause I was going to say other then the assist DB didn't really do anything productive. I did think he got jipped on that tripping call though, that was the most defense I've ever see him play.

Stars
1. Lavy - good choices on the lines, i think each of the top 3 had moments where they were dominant, and its great to finally see talbot on that 4th line (aka our guys are healthy)

2. Bash Bros - hartnell and simmer, i dont think they can be stopped in front of the crease.. holy shit do these guys do work.. i LOVE it

3. Briere - i disagree w/ ya bandit, i thought briere played one of his better games of the season tonight.. i thought he worked his tail off offensively and defensively.. he really put in the work on the boards tonight.. i loved his game tonight

4. JvR - forceful. more of that please :)

5. Kubina - really thought he played well and made a difference.. its so weird watching a righty on defense.. but he took the body, made a few great pinches, and multiple nice reads

Goats
1. the PK - is really bad. doesn't seem to matter which unit is out there.. it might be time to look at getting some new blood in there.. i think voracek should be out there on the PK

overall recap: thought that was a very solid game from the flyers.. even though they kept giving up goals, i didnt think they were bad goals (aside from the kane goal, bryz..).. and the offensive jump was obviously there.. this team is a force when it gets up on its skates and guys like jvr and briere are skating hard.. when you have a group of forwards like giroux, simmer, jvr, briere, schenn, and voracek who carry the puck in with speed like they do, its going to be tough to stop them

and how nice was it to see the 'vets' actually carry the team instead of the rookies? (i suppose it does help they only had 4 in the lineup tonight, which i believe is a season low)

All 3 brought it last night, love the hustle and grit. JVR was throwing checks as well and moving with speed I havent seen since last year. Still a ppg player since his comeback las...

Bryz gotta have that Kane shot. Though on slo-mo you can see that thing shifting, i swear i have never seen a guy honestly have so much bad luck. from the goals off of defensemen earlier in the year to quirky shots like this, at some points maybe the guy will get a break. BUT seems like people are overlooking that save on Kane in OT, that was a hell of a save, and even jim jackson was saying it was the first time bryz looked like he really saw the shot, he reacted quick and kicked the save far out. Maybe...just maybe, this could be a turn around point for him. Lavy, don't be a dick, play him the entire road trip.

I cant believe nobody had jagr with the game winner and a much better skating game from him tonight than in the past month even had a few hits.

I think that Jagr, Briere, and JVR have been playing hurt for a while. If they can all stay relatively healthy this will be very fun to watch.

Yes, I loved watching him hit people, watching Briere use his body and shield the puck from bigger players, and watching JVR use his size and speed to get past defenders. More of this, please!

Anyone catch Jagr after the game. "I was tired of skating, so I decided to score".

i think the play of briere and jvr especially gave the team a big boost last night.. took a lot of pressure off simmer, g, and hartsy who have been providing almost all of the offense since the classic
