What would you like to change the rookie status to? But there has to be a line drawn somewhere, getting x amount of games, AB's, innings is an advantage going into the next season.

Determining rookie status:
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

I am not sure what to change status to... the problem i have is that players like segura and Harvey did not play enough to even be thought to win Rookie of the year last season, but they played enough that they are not considered a rookie this season... shouldnt every player have an elligible rookie season??

Maybe make 0-50 games for offensive players
and 0-10 Pitching appearances
do not lose rookie elligibility...

I agree that there really is no good limit... But if we want to give legitimacy to the award we need to allow players that lost their eligibility because of september call ups!!! It seems like the Rookie status rule punishes the good players who come up late...

I'm also not a big fan of these guys who have played years and years in Japan or somewhere being eligible. I believe it's Ryu in LA that has won like what, 100 games in Japan, yet he's eligible. I may be in the minority on that but I think it's stupid.

There is enough differences between japanese and other asian baseball to the american baseball that you can actually claim that minor leaguers have an advantage to asian baseball players their rookie seasons... So with that logic i have no problem calling asians rookies when they come over here...
