Yeah, it can be confusing, because it doesn't follow the standard -ar/-er/-ir preterite conjugation pattern. I don't know how much help I'd really be, though, cause I grew up speaking it (my mom is Colombian), and I know I don't speak exactly how it's taught in textbooks.

Yeah, on second though, I need to be having an actual conversation with someone to work on it.

That would help the most; my BF is trying to learn it, so I we just practice having conversations and he'll listen to some of the conversations I'll have with my mom/siblings. He's getting better at actually following the conversation, but when we get to talking fast he gets a blank look over his face LOL
