IMO I think the Lakers should draft Russell. It is a no-brainer if they get Cousins definitely though.

But dont they have to give up that top pick to get Cousins?

Yeah, I've been of the opinion that if the Lakers draft Russell, it means that they think there is a strong chance that they can get a big via FA or trade (hence the Cousins trade rumors and the rumor that L.A. is interested in LA).

These rumors are going to get crazy until the draft actually happens and then they're going to get crazier leading into FA.

Yeah, the best trade would probably be Cousins for the #2 alone. That's not likely to happen unless Vlade, Shaq and Ranadive each take a double dose of stupid pills. I'd expect that IF the deal went through it would be something like the #2 and Randle or Clarkson for Cousins and the #6.

I agree. Putting Russell on the court with talented veterans like that would shorten his learning curve considerably because they can make up for rookie mistakes (although Kobe will still mean mug him once in awhile ).

Yeah, the best trade would probably be Cousins for the #2 alone. That's not likely to happen unless Vlade, Shaq and Ranadive each take a double dose of stupid pills. I'd expect that IF the deal went through it would be something like the #2 and Randle or Clarkson for Cousins and the #6.

I'm pumped for the draft. I'm not sure what the Celtics and Danny have up their sleeve, but I hope it's big. If we don't trade up, I wouldn't mind landing Cousins. I doubt that happens, but you never know.

Under normal circumstances, I'd agree re: the #2 and Randle for Cousins and the #6. But the Kings are hurting their bargaining position by dragging things out, imo. Randle is expected to be very good, but as you say, he's got 1 NBA game under his belt (and not even a whole game). Having said that, the Kings could get Okafor or Russell to pair with Randle. That could be a solid start to a re-build.

now THAT'S a possibility. i could live with that one. i'm thinking our need for a 4 is greater than our need for a 2...

I would rather have Randle, I like his upside more and even though Clarkson was impressive last year I don't see him as anything more than the 2nd PG on a good team(which is where I think the Kings want to get to being eventually). Between probably not getting the value they deserve for Boogie and the fact that the Lakers are the fucking Lakers, I feel it's highly unlikely that this trade happens. I just want to see them stick with Cousins and see how this team can play under Karl with a healthy Collison, the lotto pick, and hopefully some good FA additions.

The Kings would have to be brain dead to accept anything close to that.

Did we miss last offseason? KLove was trade for 2 #1 overall picks plus another mid 1st rounder. Cousins is the same type of player.

The trade would HAVE to be the #2 and Randle and all the Laker's would get back is Cousins. No way the #6 would be included going back to the Laker's.

Pretty hard to make the playoffs in the West with a shitty roster to play with. Boogie's a beast, not a cherry picker.

The Kings have had 5 different coaches since he's been with the team, have passed on guys like Klay, Kawhi, and Lillard for guys like Jimmer and Trob, and the best player he's ever had on his team has been Rudy Gay. I'd like to see someone like Tim Duncan get 45-50 wins(which in the West is what you need for an 8 seed) in the same situation. Not every great big man can be fortunate enough to be drafted to a team that had David Robinson, a great coach, and knows how to draft.
And no I'm not trying to say Cousins is as good as Duncan, I'm just saying even he would have a hard time being an 8 seed with this mess of a franchise.

Honestly, if i'm the Lakers, I would probably not do this trade now because the price might be to high.

The Kings want to keep their pick.

Plus, you could have Okafor, who may not be as good...yet. But, he won't eat up cap space to chase other free agents like Cousins will.

If I'm not mistaken, DMC's max deal kicks in this year.

I would rather pay 4.5 mil for Jahill than 15mil * or whatever it is* for Boogie.

10 extra mil could land you a nice role player...maybe 2.
